We are planning to have the house carpets professionally cleaned and possibly the grout in the tile areas.

There are so many choices - what type of carpet cleaning is best?

Any recommendations on who to hire, how to negotiate cost?

What shouldn't I do, what should / shouldn't I expect?

I have used ChemDry Elite for two years now since installing new carpet. It cleans them beautifully and smells great. It is one of the services which maintain warranty of the carpet FWIW.

Coupons are available often in the paper and mailings.

Stanley Steemer can't be a bad choice either.

Everywhere is different but I had a coupon for 15% off this past cleaning. Before I could offer the coupon the manager - the gentleman who cleaned them last year and oversaw the cleaning this time - said it was customer appreciation month: 20% off!
