    Reptiles or Exotic pets............????????

Who has reptiles for pets? Post a desription and pics if you have them. I'll start with a desription. I believe I am one of the few people in the state of Florida who has been permitted to own an Eastern Indigo Snake as a Florida resident. I raised that animal from a hatchling to sub-adult. They are endangered in the wild and rare to own as captives unless you have state and federal permits. Once I got to busy working to keep up the husbandry of the animal, I donated it to the Okeeheelee Nature Presreve located in Palm Beach County, Fla. No pics but you can Google the species. I have owned venemous and non venemous snakes and quite a few lizards, monitors and other exotics all my life. I was trying at one time to be permitted to own an Ocelot but it never went thru. Any other reptile lovers or exotic pet owners on R3V?????........Post em up................

I dont have any pics at the moment, but I currently have a 3ft ball python that's now eating medium sized adult rats.

Only other notable pet was an emperor scorpion.

If you can appreciate reptiles on the larger size...

This was our Salvator monitor, also had large 4' Savannah monitors

      The day we got him

When he had run of the house (snack time)

      In the dog run

Snack time again - was his favorite pastime!

Perfect timing. I'm looking to pick up a snake again. Used to have garter snakes when I was a kid. When they passed away I got a ball python. Life happened and I had to get rid of him. Now I'm looking to get back into snakes.

Still undecided if I have a proper area of an enclosure. Also undecided on what kind to get.

I have a ball python, it's getting to be close to 4 foot long. I've thought about getting a red tail boa also. I held one last year, she was around 8 feet, and just as docile as the ball.

I had a Pink-Toe Goliath for a while (giant spider) he died of old age tho =(

always scared people coming in to see a GIANT spider that could easily destroy a small dog

To RAXE: 4.5 feet. He is now close to 6 feet. My big boy. Scales almost as big as dimes. He would eat anything, other snakes, uncooked chicken right out of the wrapper from the super market, rats, etc. The best species on the planet.

Man whodwho I'm jealous of the monitor. Up in New England keeping such a boss outside is impossible. I'd otherwise get some badass huge tortoise or a monitor like you have and let it have free reign in the yard. Instead the best I can do is red ear sliders, who are pretty badass and simple enough for a college kid who lives at home. This thread makes me want a ball python even more than I already did, but alas, living at home means no.

No longer stock ride height, rolling as low as a daily driver in New England should without worrying about breaking an oil pan.
