I'm a New Englander, and it looks like Irene is tracking perfect for a good solid week of waves. Anyone else as excited as me?

Originally posted by DigitalwaveYes, and no. I got to school on the east coast of FL but I am on the gulf coast for the summer. My friends here made the trip east today, but I am spending the whole day detailing my car for the FL equivalent of Bimmerfest tomorrow.
I bombed Korea every night.

I surf and I am looking forward to this hurricane giving us some excellent waves, but sadly MD/Delaware shores just don't cut it ever for waves. Maybe if I lived in NC near the outer banks...Reminiscing...

My girlfriend just got back from Humarock in Scituate, MA. She said that waves weren't "big", but fairly consistent and fun to ride.
I'm looking forward to getting some hurricanes this year. We're about due and I'm sick of the blizzards in the winter. I'd much prefer a hurricane to be 150 miles offshore in September. Fun times out on the water.

I'm out on the end of LI, (east hampton). It was looking good for waves but i lifeguarding at the beach all day today and the swell dropped from like 5-6 to 2-3 by this afternoon, and the wind never went offshore, so so much for good waves. This summer has been the worst fucking summer for waves i can remember since i started surfing 10 years ago.
What do you guys ride?

TJ where do you surf down in florida? A friend of mine has a place in melbourne, so i went there twice last winter and got some good surf at sebastians and a few of the places along the highway there. We had 10 days of consistant chest high waves, which everyone said was pretty rare for florida surf.
Also, i'm heading out to san diego this december and probabally driving south into mexico, i'm sure some of you socal guys have done the trip, anyone have any good stories or tips?
