    EDIT:
The modifications are rediculous. 1 stage with 2 fuel tanks and a single engine gets you to 21km/s in 5 minutes. Max acceleration 265g.
    lol

Trial and error or extreeeemly precise execution following a few charts people have written out factoring in the majority of the variables and it's still hit and miss.

There's a reason NASA ditched into the oceans until the shuttle came along, tons of safe room for error.

I keep getting the capule blowing up when they land if they have been up more than 20 mins. Chute comes out, hit a 12.5m/sec. nothing on the bottom all stages separated
          clean.

Oh well the are in about 12th orbit or so. Its slowly degrading and there is not enough fuel to stabilize it but to get them back down, going to see how much longer they are going to stay up

get to a 15-20k meters. turn off the SAS, pitch over to about 45-55* counter thrust to stop the pitching, turn SAS back on. Keep the throttles fire walled till you are pushing 2600m/s. Cut throttles to nada. congrats you are in orbit.

Save a little fuel, or the small liquid tank and engine, to slow down, (retro burn) to fall back outta orbit. If you dont they will be up there along ass time.

First and foremost, use that chart I linked to. At the apogee (highest point) of your orbit, you want to be achieving the velocity for the respective altitude, which is found on that chart. Aggressive counter measures in any way can easily have you heading out of control and out of fuel extremely quick, so be precise and plan ahead. Pick an altitude ahead of time and try to achieve it for a challenge, simply going up and orbiting at the altitude you happen to stop at is easy.

                          example

Would be nice to get some moons or planets to fly to. Orbit gets boring pretty quick.

It is still very early in development. It's cool that they release it with so little content, some devs would just wait until the game is mostly done to release.
