    Hack WiFi encription?

OK - so I'm being a cheap baster and trying to steal WiFi from my an appartment across the way.

I've got a WiFi card and get a decent signal (50%-70%) but it's encripted. I tryed guessing the password (admin, their last name, ect...) but no luck.

Anyway one know a way around it?

    thanks....

It's the only good connection (day or night) ... Doubt they would share for free - Might slip them $10-20 a month or something.

Think I found some hacking software. It looks at the packets they are sending out, and tries to decrypt the WEP code out of it.

How about you contact the owner and offer to pay him for the internet instead of asking for methods of stealing it from him illegally on this form?

good luck, with 64 or 128 its gonna take a bit of work to crack it. Also most wep softwares use hex so just guessing a name is no dice.

Plus if they see you they can change IPs or ban your mac addy.

I leave my network open, because I don't care...they secured it with WEP/WPA.

They did it for a reason.

I believe I already said it as well

So you're dishonest, thieving, and lazy?

Isn't DSL like 20 bucks a month now?

SBC Yahoo dsl is like 19.99 for 6months, then 29.99/month.

however i still use the exp ass comcast cable internet, which is 49.99/month and holding there....u pay for what u get though. 8)

just get a brute forcing program. It is most likely that the password is a word, you would be amazed at how many people still insist on using words... If you are really that cheap of a bastard just let it run for a couple days and see how that goes. you should be able to guess most of the words in the dictionary by then and move on to proper nouns. Again, you could just ask them. If they are techies though, you may be out of luck becuase they will certainly have like an 8 charact number/letter combination password or better.

Stealing internet access = bad. Now say hypothetically youre on a roadtrip and you need to get online then wardriving is ok but in all honesty you could get in a lot of trouble if you mooch off of someone for long periods of time.
