    Car broken into... (non-e30 content)

The gf wanted to go for a hike, so we drove to a somewhat nearby nature preserve in my mkIV golf (dd status), got back to the car to find the rear passenger window broken out and the entire car gone through. All told, they took a shit ton of gas receipts that were in my center console, my work badge, both my pairs of sunglasses (both really shitty $5 new pairs that were several years old), and about $3 in change from my ashtray. Just fucking annoyed by the dickheadedness of this shit. I only have liability so it's coming out of pocket, so I'm paying for this myself too. Oh well, just venting.

I hate it when the window they broke is worth more than everything they took. So pointless. My co-worker had the same sort of situation.

Different places have different amounts of info on them, with a big wad of them you might be able to mine enough data between them and from the Internets, to make a play for identity theft, or at least mes with banking information

LOL or taxes write offs hahahahaha,

Gas receipts are more for in case I were to get bad gas. If you have the receipt then you can claim it and usually get the company to cover damages (had a friend go through this). This guy was obviously either a dumbass or a kid and just grabbed the first stuff he could find. He didn't even go through the glove compartment. I doubt he'll try any identity theft stuff, but I am going to keep very tight tabs on it. Thanks guys.

I never ever lock my car for this very reason. My wife gets pissed off 'cause I never remember to lock her Xterra.

i always leave my windows down and my door unlocked. If they're gonna steal shit they're gonna steal shit, but i dont have a single thing of value in my car except stuff that requires tools and time to remove. (tape deck radio, they dont want that)
I can run Auto Checks on VINs for tips/donations:
PM me VIN(s) and I'll get you ALL the public recorded info that I have available.

That bug me so bad, that's why i put automatic looks in my car and its always looked unless its sitting in the garage. And i put a theft system in the Porsche so there's a secret do starting it, so even if you have the key you cant go far unless yo wanna push.
