Hands-free Ticket

So an hour ago, I'm driving downtown to get something from the store. I have my phone on speakerphone, and as I place it from my hand onto the dashboard, parked officer sees me, peels out a u-turn, and flags me down. I tell him that I was using the speakerphone, he doesn't care, goes on a quick lil power trip, and writes me up a ticket. I need to appear on 10/10, but conveniently, I'll be in living in San Diego by then.
What to do? I tried explaining that I was using the speakerphone, and I have a completely clean record..

What a dickhead of a cop. I had a cop do that to me too except I was at a 4 way stop sign, me and the cop were directly across from each other and we stopped at the exact same time. I hesitated to go and let the cop go first, but for about 20 seconds he was completely stationary looking down (probably on his little computer typing something up). I said f this and started to proceed forwards. Just as I proceeded, he decided that he would too. I stopped abruptly and then kept going. He full on does a u-turn donut and flags me down. He literally asked me " WHY DIDN'T YOU YIELD TO ME!!?" No good deed goes unpunished.

Most people who use speakerphone hold their phone anyway, so he's not going to believe that you had it on the dash. Unless you're using a Bluetooth earpiece you're going to get ticketed. They can give tickets even for changing the song on your iPod. It doesn't make sense but that's the law.

I hate to say it, but Bluetooth headsets start out at like 20 dollars, or you can get the visor clippy ones for like 50

It's more than that. My first offense was $160 and I was the dumbass changing the song on my iPod. I even showed him my iPod (not iPhone) and be basically told me to get fucked.

but since you already "broke the law" by talking (i know, sounds pretty lame eh?) then request a sooner court date. they may work with you. then run that shit like a boss. obviously the cop wants an e30 and got pissed cuz you have one.

Yeah prices on the ticket like doubled earlier this year. Its not just phone tickets.
