my buddy got one while he was using his iphone ear buds. Cop said he had to leave one out so he could hear potential sirens. Absolute bullshit, you can still hear everything fine with them in. what will california say next, not allowed to speak with your passengers cause its too distracting?

What a dickhead of a cop. I had a cop do that to me too except I was at a 4 way stop sign, me and the cop were directly across from each other and we stopped at the exact same time. I hesitated to go and let the cop go first, but for about 20 seconds he was completely stationary looking down (probably on his little computer typing something up). I said f this and started to proceed forwards. Just as I proceeded, he decided that he would too. I stopped abruptly and then kept going. He full on does a u-turn donut and flags me down. He literally asked me " WHY DIDN'T YOU YIELD TO ME!!?" No good deed goes unpunished.

Ummm No. we should be punishing reckless/distracted driving, not using the phone. Because there are plenty of people that can talk on the phone and drive safely, its called using your fucking noggin and being responsible. You know when its safe and when its not.


If you cant talk on the phone and drive then we ought to ban cars that can have more than 1 person in them, because its not any different than talking to a passenger thats in the car with you.


Where I live we dont have stupid laws like that (other than little California)

That's a law in Washington too. Makes sense, it's more for the people who listen to music extremely loudly through they're earbuds/headphones though. Because then it's dangerous and affects other people if the driver doesn't hear an ambulance.

I thought the new law was BS until one day I picked up the phone to see a incoming text, I look up and almost smashed into the car in front of me as I didn't see them slam on the brakes.

Thar gave me a severe shock to the system and in order to comply with the law I just turn off my phone while driving now. Just remove the temptation and enjoy the sound of the engine.

I'm surprised that new cars don't have nearfield cell jamming as standard equipment to prevent in/outbound calls when the car is in motion.
