    Side swiped a motorcyclist today!

No harm was done to him or his bike! Just a small love tap, thank god!
I live right next to the Golden Gate Bridge. All the exits and entrances to and from my house are some of the most nerve racking I have ever driven in my life. There are always mounds of tourists who have no idea where they are going, along with 2-4 lanes of traffic merging into each other simultaneously within a VERY short distance.
There is also a lot of construction happening on this stretch of road the amount of lanes and/or the location of the exits/entrances keep changing to accommodate the road cruse. This confuses the traffic even more.
I have recently avoided a few incidents with other motorists when they realized they were in the wrong lane, stopped, backed up, and sped over a solid white line to avoid exiting/entering the highway.
I have even seen someone do a U turn in the middle of the highway to revers direction.
All these factors make me keep a very heightened sens awareness when driving this stretch of road. This is the only resin nothing bad happened today.
As soon as I felt the small tap of the cyclists handle bare on my passenger side I corrected back into my lane.
I should have been paying even more attention, but the guy came flying up into my blind spot with a black bike and black helmet and leathers.
For those of you that ride, PLEASE ware some bright colors, and remember that when your cutting between lanes that cars have blind spots! It makes life so much easier for drivers.
My best friend just got hit on his bike a few months ago and is almost completely paralyzed (polarized edit lol!). My biggest fear while driving is hitting some one on a bike!!!!!!!!!!
I am SOOOOOOOO happy I reacted quickly today, and was not swerving into my exiting lane like a jack ass other wise... well it would not have been good.

    Cool story bro

    I had to share it

I wouldn't be admitting I hit a cyclist on the net, however gentle it was.

when polarized you lose half of your initial intensity and when polarized in more than one place, then your intensity is halved times a factor of the cosine squared of the difference in angle of your polarized areas.

moral of this story, don't be a scattered source of light.

for serious: i'm glad it wasn't a terrible outcome. I am considering selling my motorcycle because it's terrifying sometimes even WITH bright colors and loud pipes and whatever.

I live on the "Last SF exit side," or the Fort Point side. To take the last SF exit when coming up from Lombard you have to merge two lanes to the right. All the cars that come up from the Park Presidio ramp to the right fly up at high speeds and you only have about 50-60 feet to make the two lane merge to the right. At 35-40mph 50-60 feet goes by really fast, and you just have to check your mirror throw your head over your right shoulder and then go for it.
You cant really slow down any more then that to merge because you have cars coming up behind you, and also have to match the speed of all the cars in the lanes to the right while merging.
I thought I was all clear and that bike just popped up out of no where! It scared the shit out of me! :(
I wish I had the cyclists name/number so I could by him a beer!

On the serious, glad you managed to avoid a major incident.

i feel you on the presidio area right when you cross the bridge being sketchy, all that construction there doing is really fucking up the traffic flow/ safety. if it were to happen anywhere, not surprised it happened there.
