The Jack Dempsey ever try to eat your tetras?

Cichlids are cool fish but they're too mean.

He's pretty mellow. I think he tried a few times but could not swallow them, so I had a few that got chewed up and died, but they were on sale for a buck a piece sooooooo.
I started with 6, 3 of each, and now I just have the 3.

I wish he would eat more of the dam love bearers though, there is a bunch of mollies in there now that I have to feed.

I feed him 1 cube of blood worms a day and 70 ghost shrimp a week. He seems to do good with that and it seems to satisfy his blood lust.

Haha, yeah my buddy has an African Convict and it ate about 4 Cardinal tetras before he stopped putting them in that tank.

Same guy also lost a fiddler crab somehow.

One day we look inside the tank and see the crab's shell and no crab. Must've shed (do they even do this?), then gotten eaten by the cichlid/green jewel.

My crabs fight back! When I first put them in he came at them like they were food and threw up their claws at him and he backed off.

Now they just roam around and when come near them they throw claws up and he backs away.

They so molt, so you have to have a place for them to go up out of the water.

It works out because my Pleco craps everywhen in the tank because it eats the drift wood, but they eat the Pleco poop, sp everything just takes care of itself.

^Salt water tanks are crazy. What's it like to take care of one of those? Seems like it's gotta be pretty high maintenance.
                          tasty

They are not bad once they are established, bit getting there from scratch can be a pain.

Everything is 3x more expensive than fresh water though and you require a little more equipment for the tank too.
