All drag racing is, is putting your foot flat to the floor and holding the steering wheel straight. That is not skills. Whether or not your shit is manual, or auto, everyone changes gears. Real racers do it while overtaking, picking appropriate gears and throwing it in to corners, clipping apexes, etc.
Circuit will always require far more talent than drag racing.

Let me make my point clearer, as after reading through this I've just come off as a troll, which is what I love to do but shouldn't be trolling forums I actually enjoy.
I don't hate drag racing, I just hate when people take a car that is made to handle well, such as an E30, and modify it in such a way that it completely destroys what is good about it in the first place.
I like to see how fast a car can go down the 1/4, but only as a tuning tool, it's only one measure of a cars performance. To build a car only for that is a waste of time/money and generally an awesome car.
My family are bogans that think drag racing and burnouts are the be all and end all of driving. I've driven 500+HP V8 Holdens and honestly it's fucking boring. They're automatic and can't turn corners at all, really. Where is the fun in that?
Sure it requires SOME skill to drag race but those skills are used in circuit racing + a whole lot more. I'm almost sure that most circuit/hill climb racers could put down respectable times on the 1/4, but the reverse would just not happen.
Maybe I'm just an ignant ass hater, meh, shoot me.
