Hahahahah I love where this thread has gone.

To delatlanta - Our house is a only a few down from the pool.
To be honest, there is almost no one left in town, 98% of the people in my graduating class that I knew have have gone to college now.
But to be noted, The peugeot's tire was once slashed next to the pool, then the second time it got slashed, it was all the way down the street, around a circle..

“Biggest tire slashing” incident in South Berkeley today

South Berkeley residents in the area of California, Russell, King and Julia Streets woke up today to a rude shock, as more than 50 cars in the neighborhood had had their tires slashed in the early hours of the morning.

“This is the biggest tire slashing incident any of us can remember,” said Berkeley Police Department spokesperson Sgt Mary Kusmiss, who added that even 25-year police veterans had never seen anything like it.

The damage was done with a sharp implement — probably a knife or some type of blade, said Kusmiss, although people have been known to use ice picks too in similar cases.

At around 9:45am today, Diego and Gabriel Gutierrez, who live on California Street, were attempting repairs on three of their cars which were parked in front of their home this morning. They were dealing with a total of seven flat tires in all.

“It must have happened between 4 and 6 am,” said Gabriel, estimating that it might have been after 3am when he was awake, and before the garbage trucks came through the area on its weekly round at around 6am.

Diego Gutierrez added that he was contacting his insurance company, but that he didn’t know whether his policy covered vandalism.

Other residents were also changing tires — although many had been obliged to find other means of transport this morning to get to work or take kids to school.

Sgt Kusmiss said the police took a call at around 7:00am this morning reporting the tire slashing. Several police patrol cars were on the scene at around 9:30am documenting the damage.

“We will explore all potential leads,” Sgt Kusmiss said. “At this point we have no idea what the motive is. This is a crime that can happen very quickly under the veil of darkness.”

Arrest in mass tire slashings

A woman has been arrested and charged with vandalism for allegedly slashing the tires of 74 cars in Oakland and Berkeley, including several on the street where she lives, authorities said Thursday.

Mandisa Monroe, 33, of Berkeley was arrested at about 12:30 a.m. Tuesday near her home, said police Sgt. Mary Kusmiss. Alameda County prosecutors have charged her with felony vandalism.

Kusmiss said a security camera filmed Monroe slashing one set of tires and that a search of her home uncovered items that connected her to the crimes.

Monroe slashed tires on 61 cars in Berkeley and 13 in North Oakland and spray-painted some of the vehicles late Aug. 30 or early Aug. 31, police said. The cars in Berkeley were parked on California Street from 62nd to Blake streets, the 1600 block of Julia Street, the 1500 block of Russell Street and several blocks on King Street.

Public records show that Monroe lives on the 1600 block of Julia.

Monroe denied to police that she had slashed any tires but "did explain phrases that had been tagged on the cars," said Kusmiss, who declined to elaborate.
