    soCAL/Zona power outage

    So we didn't have power for just a afternoon and night but holy shit it does it put everything into perspective. I have a new appreciation for stop lights, the police, those late night power crews, and last but not least electricity!


    What was really scary though was having to drive off the freeway. Even when there were lights working with the flashing red lights people were running BUSY intersections left and right. How is it these people can have their DL?

    Other than that it was crazy seeing busy places like pacific beach and down town san diego blacked out! Did you guys do anything cool during the outage?

    I'm in Carlsbad right now and was driving around thinking "wtf, cali runs all blinking lights". Got the power back last night. Something about people overloading the grid b/c of their a/c or something. Supposed to be in the 70's for about a week or so though.

      According to the news, it was a worker in Yuma doing repairs on a high voltage line that runs out to socal. Apparently said repairs didn't go so well. Not gonna.....not gonna.....not gonna work here anymore.......

              my house had power luckily. only a couple streets down was where the outage started.

              went to a buddies house to drink during the outage. he had a generator powering his house.
              getting to his house though, was a bitch. I waited till 930 for traffic to clear enough to go home.

                Awww man. The outage was awesome.

                I saw more e30's in my neighborhood.
                Everyone in the neighborhood was going to have a BBQ today after the frozen food had thawed.
                Actually got to talk to some of my neighbors I never talk to.

                  It was interesting. Beginning at 3:38 till about midnight... everyone was outside. It was so hot inside like (97 degrees inland) and everyone was on the streets lol. Never seen so much people flooring it at intersections, the traffic on the freeway was chaos, water shortages, doing nothing..

                    Yeah seriously, we had block parties on my street with neighbors who've never talked to each other! Fuck, how about all the lights work for the intersections and hospitals and old folks and we just party it up like this all the time!

                        The outage was an opportunity for Marines to do what we do best.

                        Drink lots of beer. And get into trouble.

                              I was at the bars starting around 5. Everyone was like beers are going to get warm, we have to drink them all now!!

                              My buddy from SDGE just got home at about 10pm. He was there since their regular start time which is about 5am Thursday and they are back out there tomorrow (Sat.) at 5am.
