Went up to the 1/8 mile drag strip tonight with some guys I met in class. Considering this is Charlotte, NC, they were all american V8's--corvette, mustangs, WS6's, etc.
I'm not a drag racer, I'm taking my car to a trackday next Friday, so I sure as hell didnt drop the clutch in any way or burn the tires. I'd let out the clutch at just above idle, and hammer 1st. It squatted/tookoff nicely
best of a few runs was 8.5 @ 80mph, a hair faster than the Corvette and .5sec or better on the camaros/mustangs. Got smoked by a '67 mustang drag car, beat a Si with NAWZZ, and a turbo Neon (srt4).
Had a good time, no plans to go back anytime soon though
