i found a sector 9 years ago and still ride the shit out of it. some of my buddies got other brands but i was never as fond of them as i was the S9, i just like how much more flexible they are.

all i can say is support the local skateboarder owned skate shop, don't buy skate goods online, if there a super cheap deal they usually wont hold up long, (I.E. bearings are shit, bushings are shit, wheels are shit, wood from china.)
if you go to a local skate shop sure you may be spending 40 or 60 dollars more on a set up, but at least you know it was built with quality materials and precision and will last a lot longer, plus you're giving back to your local business,
i like to think of it as buying a copy of a mark d chip or buying the original mark d chip to support the right person.
but all that is coming from someone who use to spend 5 days out of my week hanging/helping out at my local shop, and I've been skating for 8 years.
just whatever you do don't go to zumiez or a mall shop.
if you would like to buy online, some skateboarder owned shops that really give back to skateboarding do have online stores, i'll list a few for you, however the deals are probably similar to your local skate shops.
Skatepark of Tampa. A crusty little warehouse in Tampa, Florida with the best service and selection in skateboarding since 1993.

God damn Alameda drivers. Fucking ruined my day.
RIP: You got me to class, practice, and grocery shopping every day for my first year of college.
P.s: I'll never forget them boozecruzes around San Diego at 2 AM, bombing Torrey Pines, and scaring old professors at UCSD.

and yeah it took me a while into my skateboarding career to realize how important local shops are, i did my fair share of zumiez trips.... but after learning from a local shop and hearing the preaching of my elder skateboard friends i finally came to my senses.Comment

longboards are cool and all but be different and rock the old school santa cruz board. You got the tail so you can have way more fun on it than just push it around all day (assuming you have some skateboard skill) and it doesn't weigh 8 pounds.Comment

I just bought a Globe Batham from some skate warehouse website and the boark is SICK! its pretty much a penny board, but it has the stability of a long board.
Its has a flexible body so its really smooth the easy to ride. I havent been on a skateboard in years and i just jumped on and left with no issues.
Cool thing about it is its not a pain to lug around like a long board. its really smalled and very light to hold.I don't even own this car anymore, but I'm too lazy to change the picture.

I have a Landyachtz Downhill board for all these hills in FloridaI bought it online straight from the manufacturer 8 years ago and it has lasted me marvelously. It's really heavy and stiff since it's for downhill racing, but it's a drop deck so it's nice and low for easy pushing. 97mm wheels for lots of momentum and it's awesome! I also have a short, hot pink plastic board I got from Zumies for Christmas and it's super fun for just messing around, but not too much fun to go any serious distance.

pff, not sure what buses you've been skating around on. Sure, the big plank longboards are not maneuverable, but I could get the side of mine to touch the ground if I was taking a turn hard enough. Flexy boards are FTW.Comment
