    SUV/4x4 shopping

Since I'm living in Washington now and I only have the s50'd e30 (used to have family/GFs jeeps to drive in winter) I really am in need of a winter/daily SUV. Ideally one that I don't feel bad about driving in bad weather/ for when I want a degree of comfort and need to move stuff or go somewhere with more than one passenger.

My budget is around $3,000 but id like to stay under that. Ideally $1500 or so, but if i find something i must have or a great deal im willing to go up to $3000.

    My current thoughts are
-Jeep Grand Wagoneer (4x4 360amc V8) Had one in high school and loved it.
-Jeep cherokee(4.0 straight 6) Ex-Gfs car, liked it, simple to work on.
-Ford Explorer, 90s dont know a ton about them
-really anything else 4x4 or awd sub 150k miles with available parts.

thoughts/experience with any of these? Or any other suggestions?

    Current Car: 2011 BMW 135i, M-Sport, 6 speed

Either subaru or Jeep XJ is your best bet, those are tanks.

why do so many people on here at least have an e30 and a 4x4? especially some kind of jeep. We're too much alike, I'm also look for an LJ of some sort for snowboarding/hiking/dog carrying and so on

Full size Ford Bronco (early-mid 90's)
I had one, beat it hard, it handled it all in stride and kept going. Lot's of fun in the woods, good 4x4 action in the little bit of snow we got, and the top came off for summer time. Chicks loved it

I would go with a subaru. Not a big fan of trucks.
