I agree with SOME of this. Most rollerbladers are clueless, but there are in fact a small percentage that get it IE no snaking, laughing, respecting the spot/ park.
However, rollerblading will not make a comeback. It won't, it's like that prakour shit, nothing graceful about "running" up to a ledge and dancing around on it. Very few rollerbladers can look powerful and flow like a biker or a skateboarder... That said, keep doing what you are doing, and have fun. Those who make fun, don't respect how hard some of this stuff can be. Props for continuing a sport that you enjoy.
Those of you who don't like rollerblading or make fun of how easy it is are also the same people who ride fixed gears and longboards. I hope you realize skateboarders and BMXers respect a SELECT few of the peole who do both. In our eyes, those sports are as gay as you think rollerblading is. We don't care to make fun of you openly though, we have better things to do than crush your egos. Like skateboard. And don't tell me about how "challenging" long boarding is. It's a joke. You want some respect? Do this.

        Longboarding is a joke? You're a douche.

I made the same little joke about rollerblades that someone else would have eventually. Everyone makes fun of rollerblading, I could care less. They all take skill.

Skaters that hate on longboarding crack me up. I don't longboard because it's "challenging". I do it because it's fun, I like bombing hills, and because I'm 31 years old and don't have the same body I had at 15. Longboarding allows me to keep skating without worrying about breaking my fucking leg and missing 2 weeks of work and pay when I eat shit in a halfpipe. And I like how you came back and edited your first post to add that last comment talking more shit about it.

Interesting take on skateboarding... Did it last night, didn't break a thing except a sweat. Have fun with the whole not challenging youself. I too like to shoot hills. On a set to of 60 mm spitfire classics and an 8.15 deck. Which is the exact thing I skate on street, park, pool, ramp. It isn't about age, it's about knowing your limits. I am 6 years your senior and haven't broken a thing in years while continuing to do what I love. Just on a less crazy basis.
As far as the douche comment goes, your a hypocrite. Look at your first post... go ahead and be the first to poke fun and make a kid feel bad for doing what he likes. Then call me a douche for calling out how lame the thing you like is.
            Nice call.

Please. Did I start tearing the kid a new asshole or calling him a joke? No. I said "lol @ fruitboots", because that's what everyone around here used to call them. Shit, I had some. Who cares? Can't give the kid a little jab? It was a joke. You're the one who started talking about skateboarders and BMXers having "respect" for longboarding. Are you kidding? Are you really so high and mighty that somehow, you think skateboarding sits at the top of the EXTREME SPORTS throne, and that other lesser sports have to earn your respect? Take that shit back to the skatepark.

brb gonna go work on getting delta and his fellow skateboarders and BMXers to respect me.

Film and air what you like, it isn't totally about the asthetic, but about your tricks. Landing the trick is the first part, working on the flow of it or linking it in a run is the second. The flat rail to higher rail was sick as hell. Super tough and smooth.

                      1. Yes it is, and yes they do. (do you realize that skateboarding opened the door for the mainstream accepting all of the other "extreme" sports that have spawned off of it's success?) When I grew up, skateboarding was the GAY sport. Now anyone can be "extreme" and it's expected to be accepted? I guess it should be until someone starts poking fun, then it's time to let them know what they do can be considered gay as well.
                      2. When I grew up, skateparks didn't exist.
                      3. No need to gain my respect, you already have it on other levels.
                      4. I like it when you back down form an original comment, it means your human ;)
OP be stoked rollerblading is back to a core deal and not everyone does it. It's purer that way. When huge corperations start buying out core companies, the sport gets watered down, and core shops are forced to bend to those corperations to stay in business. That is the monster skateboarding and skateboarders created. We have to accept it. Very few skateboarding comanies are still doing it for the love. And that's sad. Longboarders and fixie riders have no clue what this means because those sports will never become popular enough to collapse in on themselves. Rollerblading did it in the early 2000s and it is probably better for it now.

He didn't make fun of it, he came off in a way that made it sound like skateboarding is the highest echelon in alternative/street sports, and that longboarding doesn't have their respect. Sorry, but that's how it came off to me.

Meh< I am 38 now, skated for ages, can even manage to still do a kick flip in the driveway once in a while, but honestly, I wish that I could still skate. What Josh says is a concern of mine as well, I mean I will still get paid, but I have kids and a wife to take care of... ikr' tl;dr but to the point...

more difficulty in keeping a board under you, not attached to your feet...

also, I have a whole lifetime of bias against "fruitboot's" lol...I ain't changin nao.

thats pretty much what its always been like blading. ppl hate it just cause its always been hated on. they just jump on the bandwagon. and ill have to respetfully disagree with u on the difficulty. i used to skateboard and can still do a kickflip, heelflip, shoveit, and landed a trey flip messin around in my friends driveway!haha the trey flip shocked us both. i got lucky. but thats with NO practice. soo u tell me whats harder. lemme see u put blades on and grind a little p-rail. just a little square skateboard rail. next thing u know youll be looking at the sky

but the attached to the feet part making it easier is backwards to me. on a skateboard u can run off on your feet. aka not fully commit. on blades youre committing every time and cant affoard to be off balance, not 100% committed or "not want to land". you will end up geting rocked.

I grew up snowboarding. we made fun of skiers cause they go side to side, look silly and look even SILLIER when they fall and have to climb back up the mountain cause their skis fell off for pretection.haha snowboards dont pop off so falling can be more gentle. shit. falling is supposed to hurt and be uncomfortable. thats why u try harder to land. to me its a similar concept.

u gotta start off with whole hearted intentions of landing.

not kicking your board out and saying, ooh i hit a rock. theres no risk when u fall that way. its a lot harder falling down a set of stairs with blades then it is a skateboard. and mind u we dont do rails we can just tap and land on the ground. im talking kinkers and 20+ stair rails where if u dont make it your on stairs still homie!

Look ppl, i know blading is hated on as it has been since it came out. a lot of it has to do with the attitude the early bladers had. weve been trying to fix this forever. i guess ppl will have to open up to trying something new first. but like i said i used to skateboard before. maybe thats the only reason i respect both.

many ppl are to ignorant towards things of difficulty. its like saying I hate salmon and youve never tried it. you just dont know

Please stop trying to catagorize skateboarding.... It sounds silly. It's skateboarding. I accept everything. If I don't like it or respect it I keep my mouth shut. Until it's time to prove a point. You called it fruit booting to make fun of it. I made you feel bad because I attacked something you liked. Granted, it was more aggressive, but it got the point across. I don't respect longboarding as a mainstream thing (which it is now). Or fixed gears for the same reason. I respect those who do it as a passion, and not as a n experiment in fitting in or looking cool. I started skating at 10 b/c my cousin did it and it looked like fun. No trends about it. He gave me his old board, and I wanted to learn. I fell down, got back up and practiced. Not to be respected, but because I didn't want to give up. Still do it to this day. Except I am re-learning every time I step on one due to my age and motor memory.
It is what is is Josh. Skateboarders took shit so rollerbladers and other off shoots could exist. Same as snowbaorders. They took shit for mini skis and snow skates, and snow bikes... there are those that blazed a trail and those that followed. I can't help it if my passion blazed the trail, I most certainly had nothing to do with it's popularity, I just never left.
