Hey hippie, why don't you move to France you frog?
oh wait.
My dad was in the Navy. He is a supporter of getting a good education, and it is only apparant when you recieve it the value of one. That, or realizing it being a clerk at blockbuster going on 35..... And he also wanted us to kick some Hussian ass. And both granddaddies, and my stepgranddad were military men. It's how they afforded to go to college, and provide for my mom to with the GI Bill.
Somehow being a lazy, let-mommy-and-daddy-pay-for-everything hippie doesn't allow most punk American kids these days have an appreciation for anything but the OC and making protests. Get a job. Get an education.
I am flabbergasted at your ignorance on this subject or even this particular thread. go back to being banned for calling peoples wheels and IS spoilers gay.
Looks like I'm being gang banged by three people in here.
Am i gonna say, am i. oooh, it's hard to decide, whose mom to choose for the pun.. so many choices.. oh god, i'm studying abroad in france, so do to this i must give up, here is a white flag |>
As long as your ignorance brings you comfort.

You guys need to drop the education bit, that's an argument that you're going to lose.
For a large number of students, a college education is a waste of money.
Why?
Change that to "for a large number of students, going to college is a waste of money", and you might have something.
Finishing college is a big deal, and helps. Employers want to see a degree, it shows that you can perservere. Getting a Bachelor's shows that you can put together a 4 or 5 year plan and see it through. This requires ability. That's the difference between an education and just attendance.

You chose to make it personal, and bit off a bigger piece than you could chew.
I have an education, paid in part by the GI bill that I used to earn money and choose my way of life thanks to the constitution. The founding fathers would be very dismayed if not PISSED at what is going on right now in this country.
The reaction to Katrina was appalling and a large part of the reason was that the maceinery and men the national guard needed to use is in Iraq! There was a better response in the 60's than today.
The state & federal response was diminished because everything has fallen under "homeland security"
I find it interesting that guys that can go to Iraq & Afganistan to die don't have a problem with Mr Bush & his war. Being 43 I wouldn't be drafted but don't you guys realize the volunteer army is insuficient to the needs of the current administrations goals?
The draft looms large guys. I just think there are better things we could be spending our resources on and don't think the youth of america needs to be blown up a world away for phantom weapons of mass destruction.
Personally, I think a draft would be good for the country about right now. I've noticed something about this current generation of youth. there's a really sickening sense of complacency, entitlement, and a general disinterest in anything outside of their computers, cell phones, or other stupid material things. Getting shot at would change a lot of that focus real quickly.
That being said, a draft isn't going to happen.

Charlie, your mind seems to be so made up on many issues. I wonder, was there a certain age where you decided. "look I'm pretty much some hot shit and know everything, time to close up my brain."
I say this as i've seen this constant regurgitation of information from you. You are the poster boy of the little shit stain that knows better then anyone else. Do the world a favor, loose the pubescent attitude, and get a clue.

Julien shut up.
Charlie's not too far off the mark here. As much as I disagree with most everyone's opinions, the draft is not a bad thing. It gives those without the desire for college or technical school a chance to succeed at something in life. In fact, ever since our country killed the draft, the mentality of being an american has declined rapidly. People don't have anything to look forward to in the future in this country but a career in the military for some people could be what this nation needs to become the greatest country in the world again.
right now, it's just whiners and losers who have let the lawmakers and politicians run rampant on our freedoms.

The response was diminished because people usually possess a modicum of common sense and make an attempt at pursuing survival on their own. The behaviour of the majority of the residents of NO is almost unexplainable in that they simply crowded themselves onto places, attacked each other, and looted stores for non-essential supplies. Look at the victims during 9/11 (even I shudder at this comparison), look at the unity displayed there in that pandemonium compared to the riot conditions that were seen in NO. Red Cross workers being mugged, helicopters being shot at, rapes, murders, massive looting. It's unbelievable.
sucks for them then if they cannot benefit. It's a good investment....just not everyone can understand it. (and then later in life it's probably too late)
robert, you and I should hush, as we are nothing more than Charlie's lapdogs, right?
totally missed this. yes, us republicans must be gangbanging Julien and being unfair..... while the hippie liberals can whine and protest as much as they want to. we're just backup dancers, I guess.....must be..... we can't possibly hold our own seperate, but similar values and beliefs
It's a good investment....just not everyone can understand it.
Fitzgerald, Allen/Gates, Hemmingway, Wozniak/Jobs, Robert Frost, Spielberg, Alexander Bell... I could go on all day. I assure you, these people could've realized college as a good investment. I just hope you're as thankful as I am that they didn't come to the same decision you're imposing.
