So caring about the environment is now a prerequisite to having a job in CA now-a-days ?? I guess it was only a matter of time :giggle:
To some extent, that's true, and you got me thinking more about it. I'm the employer so I don't care too much what my own people think about my car habits; they know how I roll. On the other hand, social media can be risky for employees. I've never looked for employees on facebook or elsewhere to see what they're up to, though I'm sure many employers do. I do know that HR people are increasingly screening applicants in part by searching for their social media activities.
My primary concern is offending the sensibilities of my customers, and in some way, I think of them as my employer. Extended family? Eh, not such a big deal, but I'd prefer them not to think of me as reckless, irresponsible and wasteful. I figure that most people don't get this car thing, and even though that's my only remaining vice in my middle-aged state, it doesn't cast a favorable light if you know what I mean.
I get ya dave. I get it, having a business in such a ecco-douche area you have to talk the talk to keep the clientele happy.
Your example is a big reason I dont have social media, beyond here. My life is not that intersting I need to keep updateing what I am doing so everyone can know too. I get up go to work, go back to my room and do it all the next day, till I get to go home. If someone wants to get a hold of me, I am not that hard to find and someone will have my number for you to call me.

Why the fuck would you ever put a drink up there? If you ever have a drink to hold, just put it between your legs. You know, where your balls used to be before you had a girlfriend.
my boss friended me on facebook. i told him fb is part of my personal life and declined.
my father friended me on facebook. i just declined, no explanation needed.
i regularly (every 3-6 months) go through my fb and delete people. especially when it starts creeping past 200. i dont talk to that many people, so... why am i friends with them? delete. i'll never add someone on fb just due to obligations. screw that and screw them.
I used to be very against Social Media. My wife made me a page about a year ago and its actually been nice catching up with people I haven't seen in 20 years. Myspace ended a lot people relationships that I know and didn't want to bring any of that shit into my house. It actually hasn't been that bad. Don't froend ex's and no issues. lol
