LOVE posts like this! It is completely deceitful to say you can do a complete m50 swap for under a grand... I'd like to see that mapped out. It makes no sense to swap in a used motor without doing basic maintenance and replacing gaskets/waterpump sensors etc... especially if reliability is your goal.

I wish people would stop spreading this foolishness.

hey Spence, you already spent lots of money on rebuild stroker. look into a war chip or megasquirt . Properly tune your car and enjoy a real BMW chassis.

ps. there are PLENTY of mountain roads in SD.

Turbo what you have. You KNOW what you have because you witnessed the rebuild. an s52, you will never know. Spend 2 grand on turbo parts, make 260-320hp/tq and be happy.

I'm m52/s50 cammed with software and exhaust and I'm pretty damn happy but I do wonder what it's like to have more.

Go turbo and you will never have to make anymore of these emotion gay ass threads that you always make.

Hahahahah, thank you. I go back and forth every day, I ripped on my car pretty hard today and I'm loving it more and more. I can definitely see a turbo build very very soon.

Thanks for all the advice guys, I'll keep you all updated.

where is video ?? only takes a cruz around the block or two. Nothing fancy just a few pulls.

heres mine. stock over bore rebuilt m20b25 , chipped 153 dme, spin-tech muffler and a dying fuelpump. Filmed with my shitty phone.

edit: car is a vert with a trunk load of tools and one missing exhaust manifold stud ( lolz )

s54 swap if you want response and ridiculous top end accel. m20 boosted would need some serious serious kit and gearing to keep up (and built motor).

2500cc-2800cc M50 family powerplants are not worth swapping in place of the m20 unless boosted.

s52 barely cuts it, but expense is very similar to s54 when you get into it.

for a freeway and street machine a small turbine+mild built motor (just studs and pistons)+2800-3200cc single throttle 24v would be a nice end result. S54 swap would be cleaner and sound nicer though, end result speed would be similar pending gearing.

M20+ turbo would require rotary proportions turbine and some update modernization of electronics or standalone.

S54 will be the ticket for end all though, as it also can be boosted..... :D

Do we yet have some comprehensive knowledge on how to do the s54 swap without it costing 20k? s5x motor n/a still makes a great quick car out of the e30.
