No its not too much to ask for but everyone and their mama has become some type of uber movie critic that just bitches and moans about every movie they see expecting it to the out of the norm and mindfcking amazing. Im not saying these movies aren't lacking sustenance most of them do and i agree with OP what I am saying is that everyone needs to stop acting like every movie was made to blow your mind. Get a grip. Like reelizmpro said, it hard to get something original nowadays. Remakes are getting made and originals are being shown.
Watch the movie and take it for what it is. btw this is no attack to OP or you chad its just a trend I see with people these days. We live in a bitchy and whiny society.Comment

Most bigger budget video games these days have better script's and acting than "Block Buster Movies." Unfortunately game -> movie is always a disaster....most notable being Max Payne. Fucking horrible disappointment compared to what the original game's storyline was.Comment

Rotten Tomatoes, home of the Tomatometer, is the most trusted measurement of quality for Movies & TV. The definitive site for Reviews, Trailers, Showtimes, and Tickets
They're usually spot on with their certified fresh movies. Not all movies being released suck, it's just hollywood's big releases which arn't all that great. Start expanding the genre's you watch and don't rely on your local theatre to bring you decent movies.Comment

No I'm not saying anyone should lower their expectations. People can expect every movie to be best in their life but what I am telling people to do is stop bitching if it didn't live up to that expectation. Realize that those movies only come once every so often.
Plus everyone has their own definition of what is good. If someone critiques a movie saying it's garbage because it's lacking this and lacking that to a person who hasn't seen it, it can just influence the way that person sees it. I just think its unnecessary for people to critique a movie at such an in depth level.Comment

didn't say i didn't like drive lol. i said i am disapointed! so much potential wasted.
besides the point!
its not so much bitching/whinning as it is observing a trend in american culture. hollywood is giving americans what they think we want, quick and to the point so they don't loose our attention and all in hopes of making $$$
edit:
this!
can't call a movie Drive and then dick around.
hey wasn't there a movie about a kid privateering with a e30 coming out?" what was that?Last edited by devon.818; 10-12-2011, 06:06 PM.Comment

Drive did have more potential. I only say that because when they did have the driving scenes, it was the fucking best I've ever seen. The rest of the movie was good but it kept on leading you on to think there would be more driving scenes when there werent.

Im saying you are bitchy and whiny at all, your post just made me realize how many people over analyze movies. Its really simple, its all about the $$$. They copy whatever was original because the original was the cash cow and they want to replicate.
Not trying to offend you just to be clear ;)Comment

I'm more hyped about shows than movies. Still pisses me off to have to wait a week between episodes though.
Take The Killing, The Walking Dead, Boardwalk Empire for example.
You don't have to have 40 foot robots and city blocks blowing up and 300mph car chases to make quality entertainment.Comment

I love a good film but Drive was mediocre at best. You would think that for a movie called Drive, there would be more, ya know, driving? The opening scene was amazing, the soundtrack was perfect and it even had me hooked through all the lovey dovey parts. But once the husband got out of jail it went down hill fast. The pacing went way out of whack, the violence was just too over the top, and the acting took a nose dive. They had this huge buildup during the first half of the movie and it was like the director finally realized that he needed to get something going so he crammed 3 hours worth of stuff into 1 hour. I usually don't go off on rants like this but Drive really pissed me off because it started sooo well and ended terribly.Comment
