why are movies sucking lately?

lately movies quality is going to shit. several of the last movies i have seen all have the same faults; story development lacks, characters are non-demensional and flat, over before you know it.
for example, the movie drive with ryan goseling. i was really excited about this, it reminded me of the old school car chase movies, and thats how it was marketed, but when i watched it there were few chases and the overall story lacked, almost like they threw out a plethera of scenes that would have made the movie that much more exciting. this is true for Real Steel, killer elite, and newly released three musketeers.

Tron was the last great movie I saw. Oh and contagion wasn't that bad either i guess.

The trend I see is that moviegoers act like they are roger fcking ebert or some shiit. damn it people its a movie, most movie makers are making it to just occupy 2 hrs of your life not engage you in a mind fck. rarely do mindfck movies come out anyways. This happens all the time, i started noticing it when Hangover 2 came out. People are like "Bleh the story was the same" "They need to come up with something new" for fck sake the movie was made for people to laugh at not to get people to think about it.

dont hate me for saying this but for Drive, i was hoping for a steve McQueen era type movie. dont get me wrong, i really liked the movie, but feel it was lacking in many areas.
in less words, it had so much potential.

and it doesn't even have to be original. was the lion king orignal? NO! that was shakespeare's hamlet.

all i am saying is the movies have potential that production companies are denying the movie to reach lol.

this is why i am SOOO glad HBO has mini-series such as board walk empire, or FX's new show Tera Nova( think halo/stargate/jerrasic park all rolled into one than mixed with awesome).

I thought TerraNova fucking sucked. I was hoping it would be like Jurassic Park cause that was and has always been one of my top favorite movies, then I watched the show. I think it would be better if they did'nt have those made up dinosaurs.
