    New Movies

Transporter 2: More action than the 1st, but they also churched it up a bit with more cheesy 1 liners. The plot is a little less intricate, but the sheer number of total cars and ass woopings makes up for it.

Walk the Line: this looks really good, Pheonix seems like a dead on Johnny Cash in the previews, and I'm a big Cash fan, so I hope its good.

Lord of War: Cage is usually hilarious, I'll check my brain at the door for this one.

Serenity: I must admit, I'm a pretty big sci-fi dork, and Firefly is easily my favorite fiction TV show (24 is a close second), so I'm stoked about this movie. The folks that have seen prescreenings claim its incredible, and I hope it does well so the TV show comes back. Anyone that hasn't seen Firefly should check it out on DVD, it really is a quality show if you like action/adventure type stuff

    What about ya'll?

Heard the same about Transporter 2 - can't wait to see it. As you put it - check your brain at the door, I'm sure I'll love it.

Haven't seen previews for walk the line, but would love to see it.

And firefly RULED. hence the cancellation.

I gotta admit, there isn't much "new" coming out that's got me stoked. I'll toss in my thoughts on what I've seen that hasn't pissed me off.

I'm gonna have to catch "walk the line" just on the premise alone, apparently Joaquin went batshit during filming, so this could be good.

The Constant Gardner looks like a pretty good flick, good direction and interesting writing.

          What've I've liked.

Crash: A seriously good flick. A nicely timed film with a pretty decent ensemble cast, save for Sandra Bullock, who is absolutley worthless. A really refreshing "race" film that actually allows some of the characters to flesh out and gives justification to everyone. It's still floating around at a lot of the cheap theatres, and I think it's on DVD. Go out and catch this one. As much as I hate to say it, f'n Ludacris actually puts on a good performance, including some hilarious lines about hip hop's role in the destruction of black society. The film pushes a lot of buttons without being too heavy handed, although it gets there in spots. I enjoyed it.

I'll sleep when I'm dead: You missed this in the theatres. Rent it. It's Clive Owen (The bmw films guy) and Malcolm McDowell in a gritty british gangster movie. It's written by Mike Hodges, the guy who did Get Carter and Terminal man, the old 70's british brutal gangster flicks. Slow paced, bitter, dark, and brutal at the end.

Haute Tension: Aka High Tension. Trashy, oversexualized french slasher flick. I loved it. It completely rips off the original Texas Chainsaw massacre as well as David Fincher's directoral style, but it's got excessively gory dismemberments and strong lesbian overtones, you can't go wrong.

Skeleton Key I called the "surprise" ending about halfway through the film, but I still liked the premise. Kate Hudson is ridiculously hot and not aneroexic as well, which definetly helps the film. Not a bad budget matinee flick.

Gotta see that Clive Owen flick - he was awesome in the BMW films and should be a Bond, IMO. Great in Bourne Identity too.

And I'll second the non-anorexia being a big turn-on these days, sadly.

I completely forgot about that Owen flick. The only place I saw a preview was on the dvd of Amores Perros, not seen anything in any popular media

is that with Jodie Foster where she loses her kid on a plane? It looked like an airborn "Forgotten" in the trailer...

Rachel McAdams is a class act. Think Nicole Kidman.

It will be years and only in an artsy film if she ever bares them.

I will let you know when that is. For sure. :)
