    Who was in the wrong?

Alright, today was an arrive and drive race day. I work at sears point at the kart track and today juniors were on the track in our karts. Anyway, it was an early day, 7:00, usually we're at the shop around 8. When we're late we obviously need to call the boss (sidenote withheld re: his attendance) and say what happened and be there asap. I dont have a cell phone (no remarks please) and sometimes cant find the boss' or shop phone number to call him, but fortunately I did this morning. There was already one of my coworkers there, and it has been done before with just two people so it was a little busier but its not like I was holding up the whole show.

    7:48ish Ring ring
Boss -(cell phone so he knows whos calling he says..) JB
Me - um, yeah I dont know how but I fell asleep on the couch last night and I just woke up, i'll be right there [knowing two of them are there working on what needs to get done]
    Boss - you fucked up!
Me - [thinking WTF?? at least I am calling!] Yeah, I'll be there.
    CLICK

Since when do you EVER tell someone that?? I was really ticked off that he would say that, the least he could have done would be to say yeah we really need you get here as quick as you can. Which they didnt need me anyway.

I leave, the whole way there I am wondering why I am even going. Because we're already short two of us, the boss and coworker that are there could really use my help. I was tempted on several occasions to turn around and call in sick...but I knew I would catch shit for that.

I get there, clock in, shuttle a kart out to the track and on the way back on the quad he asks me...
    Boss - So what happened?
Me - I told you exactly what happened on the phone.
Boss - Well you picked the worst Worst WORST WOOOOOOORST day to sleep in!
Me - [Thinking Yeah, like I was planning it] I dont appreciate you telling me I "FUCKED UP" over the phone. Not like I didnt know I screwed up already. *get to the shop and getting off the quad and walking into the building* I almost didnt come in today anyway, and at least I called.
Boss - Go home, take the day off.
Me - I came in because you guys need my help! If I didnt think that ..(cut off would have said ..... I would have)
Boss - I dont need your attitude, clock out and go home!
    Me - Fine whatever.

I was at work for all of about 5-10 minutes, max.

When I got home I called his cell phone and obviously I got his voicemail because he wouldnt want to talk to me and I said EXACTLY (heh, I wrote it down so I wouldnt say something else) Hey its Justin, I dont want to stir the pot any more, but since I am scheduled to work I dont see why it couldnt be a sick day. Good luck out there today guys.

I was TRYING to be nice, and went by the book and actually called. I would have been fine for the entire day had he not said YOU FUCKED UP. That was entirely un called for being at least worded in that fashion and REALLY pissed me off. I have a giant headache now too thinking about it, and I need to work on my 2002. I need to drive to some places to get stuff and havent been able to either think clearly or not have a giant headache since this morning. What a waste of a day eh? :(

Yeah, you already knew your boss was pissed, why try to be a hero? I would have sent you home at that point too.

if I'm late, my boss can't do shit. even if he could, firing anyone on our crew would be suicide. we have them by the balls. :)

Sounds like your boss was having a shitty day and took it out on you. Maybe the misses was on the rag or something - that always puts me in a bad mood when I don't get my medicine.

Or you've been late before and it pisses him off, and this was the "straw".

Either one, sounds like just a job while you're young and not a career path - so who honestly gives a shit.

Go in and take a dump on his chest - then when they call for a reference and he tells them that, they'll know he's crazy and give you the job.

After the discussion with your boss you STILL wanted to win the argument:
"When I got home I called his cell phone and obviously I got his voicemail because he wouldnt want to talk to me and I said EXACTLY (heh, I wrote it down so I wouldnt say something else) Hey its Justin, I dont want to stir the pot any more, but since I am scheduled to work I dont see why it couldnt be a sick day. " If an employee of mine said he wanted to take a sick day after being a smart ass, showing up late, being sent home, and not apologizing I'd CAN HIM. It doesn't matter who was in the wrong or right if you want to keep your job. So humble yourself, be a man, and apologize, and don't put any of your co-workers into a position of having to listen to you complain about the boss because they need their jobs too. Be cool: no more anger, no revenge, no bad-mouthing him to anyone. Did you fall asleep on the couch because you drank too much? Might want to look at that....

Your fault. He's a dick, but you screwed up in the first place. He's a waffleswaffleswaffleswaffleswaffles if you're not fired by Monday.

Shouldn't have hung up on him on the phone? Don't get waffleswaffleswaffleswaffleswaffles hurt cause he said you fucked up cause when it all boils down you did fuck up. He was probably having a bad day as mentioned.

                  Good luck with your job.

                  Peace.

lol. this backfired. I didnt think I was trying to be a 'hero' or anything, I just told him I didnt appreciate him telling me I fucked up, and he had told me the day before he needed us both there so I told him thats why I came in. You obviously dont know me, because I am most definately not the 'hero', I often back down but in rare cases I just say what I believe. Honestly, if I'm cornered I cant think of quick responses, but on my own time I can, and sometimes I bring them to the table and sound like something Im not. Im always there on time anyway, so thats not the reason for him being ticked.

I also rarely even have one drink, so thats incorrect. I rarely on the border of never party. If you want to know why is because friday was an early day as well, I miscalculated my sleepyness and watched the 2 hour beginning of that new show about those weird aliens and stuff. I forget what its name is. :P

Anyway the only reason I posted this was because I wanted to see if I was crazy, and apparently I am because my boss had every right to tell me I fucked up. Especially when Im never there, dont do any work, when I do get there I'm late, and I always leave early /SARCASM.

Edited to not sound like a jackass, cause im not. ;p

                    Oh well. :D
Just some drama for the day. Yay me.

LOL. He wont be coming in on monday, thats his day off even if we work. It kinda sucks. And I wont be fired, he called me after work and asked if I would be able to work monday at 7 which I was going to come in at anyway, and to be sure to be on time.

Oh, I didnt hang up on him as if to cut him off, he was just as eager to get off the phone ;) Just some clarification, and I dont have a waffleswaffleswaffleswaffleswaffles ;) My point was things that could have been changed in the moment, not something big like accidentally sleeping where my damn alarm clock wasnt. It would have all been good otherwise.

On a sidenote, WOW my life is interesting. Not.

                          you fucked up..

what is wrong with him saying that. That is the least that needed to be said. You shouldn't of said I dont appriciate you saying I fucked up. It was having an attitude. You lost your job by calling him back. Sounded like fun working on go karts :(

Co-worker of mine this past saturday got to work late. My boss didn't even bother asking him why he's late. He said "go home" . The rebel that the co-worker is replies... " I am not coming in Sunday, Monday, or Tuesday!" lol good luck bringing home the groceries...
