How much money is "enough"?

Think family of four...enough to save, live modestly yet comfortably, retire, send kids to school, etc etc. What number do you have in mind - or what is your goal?

I have a family of 6, so I voted according to me. after all thats who is important.

p.s. I voted $125k, it really isn't as easy as you think to do it for less than that.

I would agree for personal income, but I believe he means a collective household income.


Here where I live, all of that could probably be done with 85-90k. I would say about 125k for most other places in the country.

Not sure, no kids, we could certainly do it for less than we do now ($120-125k gross).

We spend more on eating out and booze in a month, than we do on our house payment. And we both are still putting away 15%-20% for retirement and go on vacations and such.

Within the next 12 months, I'll be putting approx 25% away for retirement.

EDIT: So I'd say $175-200k to maintain the standard of living we are used to.

4 million for me. I'm 22 and I could just have 4 million tomorrow and have plenty of money to support my lifestyle now and future life, as well as kids/wife.
