problem with school, unless you are getting one of the top tier degrees in useful stuff chances are you're going to throw lots of money down the toilet

school =/= good job, you have a higher chance of taking your entire tuition to vegas and throwing it down on red or black.
I can run Auto Checks on VINs for tips/donations:
PM me VIN(s) and I'll get you ALL the public recorded info that I have available.

Not to sound like a broken record or anything but, go to school man. Do you know how many students would kill to get out of college and have little or no debt? You can still travel while going to school. You can always study abroad man. My buddy did that, he lived in France for a semester and Seoul for a semester. The best part he still got degree in accounting. Going to college is an experience I doubt you'll regret it.

Not really I spent 6 months at a tertiary collage learning civil drafting. That was 6 years ago, I never finished the course and am kicking myself now as I have hit a Plato in my pay simply because I do not have the diploma. I am on 65k a year my counter parts with their diploma are on around 75-80k.

But it gets better if I go to university (Collage in the USA) and go get my Civil Engineering Degree by the time I have had 10 years’ experience in the field I could be making anywhere between 100-130k a year. Then if I was go continue on studding while working and do a degree in project management in another 5 years I could very well be on 180-220k a year.

So you see if you go to school every certificate that you get will increase your pay bracket by some margin. Mind you these certificates need to be productive in the line of field you end up doing. E.g. I would not get any more money for some arts degree. So if you went to school got a certificate in whatever you want in about 15-20 years you could be on anywhere from 150-220k a year. Simply because of a piece of paper.

I can't tell you how many people I've seen come into some money (and $40k ain't that much at the end of the day)...and then they blow it all one-way-or-the-other.

Find a family friend that is good with money(someone over 40, 50-ish would be better). Ask him to mentor you, or help you check your purchases before you pull the trigger.

Just imagine it's 2 years from now, and all that money is gone, and all you have next to nothing to show for it? That's what you don't want to happen.

my graduating class of 152(typo 152, smaller school), we have 1 doc, 1 lawyer, and 2 dentists.

no one else is really doing anything, standard wage slaves, a LOT of them are still trying to pay off their debt from going to school and finishing (whether or not they actually finished doesnt change the fact they still owe money)

ive got 11 really good freinds who we all kept up with each other through the years.
9 went to college me and the other guy didnt

other guy - makes 80k a years writing software for the judicial system (no degree)

Me - i work at III forks (one of the best steak houses in America)im just a server no college or anything, I am not allowed to divulge what we make but i do ok.

5 friends are going back to school to try and get a master degree because their bachelors in everything from comp sci, history, to business isn't good enough these days since there are people with Ph D and masters degrees who cant get a job

1 friend is a internal medicine doctor, sacrified 10 years of his life to go to school, and now works 120 hours a week at a hospital and in his own words, he is a slave to the people, but is making more then 1k per day. (he still has 450,000 in medical school debts)

the other are joining the military to try and pay off their school and learn a trade

its sad when a bachelors degree is the new highschool

Bachelors degrees are useless. Learn a trade. I'm stuck with senioritis trying to finish the last year of my undergrad knowing it won't get me shit. Start meeting people who have established careers for themselves and have good connections. Those go a lot farther than most people think. Just enjoy some of what you have and save towards something. Like GG said, you need something to show for it in a few years when it will start to matter more. At the same time, you don't want to have any regrets about not doing youthful things while you are young. Balance is key. Just do what everyone else said :D

You need a trade or some experience, school is basically useless unless of course you learn something while you're doing it.

Pharmacy school... if you can get in (of course that's after 2 years of pre-pharm in undergrad and maintaining awesome grades, or after a getting a bachelor's in my case). 40K would cover most of the tuition, minimal loans, and you'd be making 6 figures once you graduate. Working part time as a pharmacy intern, you do alright financially during school.
