For those of you who like, or can at least respect, Nascar, read on. For the rest of you - whatever.
The buyer for my 318i was the transport driver for the #10 car, Valvoline, Scotty Riggs. In return for going to great lengths with the transaction of the car, he offered me a day at the races when he came up to NHIS. I agreed, and got to bring along two friends - my girlfriend, and my roommate, who's a huge NASCAR fan.
What we ended up getting was a full VIP, no limits access to the race. Hot passes with infield parking, unlimited access to the garage areas and pit lane throughout the entire race, and we watched most of the race from atop the #10 trailer - not more than 10 feet from Richard Petty, who was on top of the #43 car's trailer parked next to us.
We were mere yards away from the cars pulling into their pit stops, brushing shoulders with the drivers, literally within touching distance of the cars as they drove back into the garage areas. What we ended up getting, you couldn't buy.
Check out the pics - it was a day even the most die hard NASCAR hater would have enjoyed - the sheer power of those cars and the entire experience is something any gearhead or race fan should try at least once.
