I had a horrendous experience with three DI 624S routers (no connectivity 2 rma'd) Third one does same thing. I contact tech support. They determine it is again defective after many calls & hang ups.
First I need to say I got the routers from Trend micro, in order to beta test security features Trend Micro has placed in the router. Does that make it free? D-Link thinks so. Since I have had three and spent way too much time dealing with it I asked for a different model (not necessarily better) They want me to take a 624 which has issues of it's own & costs 1/2 on their site (130.00 vs 65.00) I said I didn't think it was reasonable but started the process as I was tired of the whole deal.
I was going to accept the far lesser unit until I got to the webform and thay demanded a 129.99 hold on my credit card to secure the return of the defective unit! So to review take a device costing 1/2 but pay the full guarantee!
I then called the corporate office and was told I had to speak to the head of customer service that only she sould transfer me higher (I asked for the office of the President)
Two days later a very surly woman called me and basically said she was as high as I could go and had no supervision! and that I was going to accept the lesser unit or pound sand. I with an attitude to match hers let her know I was not her employee, that in fact at that moment as the customer I was her supervisor and that I would not be spoken to that way. The call ended when she said the replacement was not negotiable and I told her I would be taking that and her awful attitude up with her superior as I hung up.
I called back and found the name of the operations manager and left her a message which included that I would be calling their corporate offices in Taiwan at 9pm my time when they opened at 9am their time. No call so I did in fact call Taiwan. (thank you voip phone) It took almost 30 minutes but finally I got a very nice man that was appalled and said he would handle it.
The next morning I got a call from the operations manager telling me the 624S which I didn't want had been shipped without a guarantee and gave me tracking info which has it being delivered in L.A. today (from Anaheim)
Sorry for the long lead up but it was necessary to get to my question (finally I know)
Do you guys think because I didn't pay cash but with my time that I am any less entitled to a working unit?
Do you think I was wrong to push until I was treated fairly?
Thanks
