With todays emission, safety, and mpg standards, consider this a blessing.

Why did the screw up the wheel arches and headlights? The concept looked a lot better.

2700-2900 lbs....and how? Type-R all over again. Minus the FWD (which is the only plus).
The Miata was very under powered and only showed hope in autocross and SPEC racing. This car is nothing like the Miata or Elise.
And why then would you buy this car if you can buy the newer Miata with more power (once they detune the 86 at the states) and proven performance.
But as usual there are people like you three who like because they want to like rather than expect something more from a boring company.

If lucky, the E36 will die peacefully, in its natural habitat, and be given the prestigious honor of donating its parts to an E30

he's agreeing with you. and so do i, they really took the versa from a viable (looks wise) competitor to the gti and removed its balls.

and yet, everyone will still say that the ITR is a great car. so.. im kind of missing your point on why it's bad. 2700lbs, 200hp, rwd, is a great recipe for fun. i wish i had 200hp in my e30. that would be awesome.

im going to chalk this one up to joshh being a grouch for no apparent reason again.

The car drivetrain and platform were designed before the exterior. The intent was to make it handle at least as good as well as a Porsche Cayman. There is no other car like it in the world right now, that is RWD, front boxer engine. Very low COG, although from the wheel arches pictures, that would be hard to believe. I predict the STI version with the CF hood and tighter suspension will be a true enthusiast car.
Interior look pretty good as well.

No I just have little hope that Toyota will make a real sports car. And I guarantee you the car will be detuned before coming to the states.
We'll see what they bring us.

Here is what Toyota Australia is advertising

They do say this is a concept, but considering the final design has been released they should update there web page.

The era of the 86 is coming to a close in 2021, but its story doesn’t end there. Find the features of this legendary sports car, see alternative options.
