Ménière's disease, BPPV, vertigo etc...do you need help?

    http://www.dizziness-and-balance.com.../menieres.html

I've had this horrible disease for 11-12 years now.
This past week was the absolute worst attacks I have ever had and I've been down and totally out for the past 30+ of 40 days now. On and off.

Done a ton of research over the years and saw numerous doctors, Naturopathic doctors, ENTs etc.

Finally found a Menieres disease message board specifying that one main cause may be a misalignment of the *atlas* bone. The first bone between the skull and the spine. This has to be done by a qualified upper cervical chiropractor (NUCCA). Not your normal chiropractor.

Here is also a link to that message board for another treatment that has apparently helped many others. And where i found out about the atlas bone.

I got in to see a NUCCA specialist here close to Portland. They found my atlas bone was out and showed me the X-ray of it and how it was misaligned. The doctor adjusted it. Along with this a few other things that are supposed to keep this disease in check or at least help.

It's been two full days and I have yet to have a full dizzy spell as long as I keep myself fed. I can't believe the difference in this simple adjustment. I played a ton of sports. Injury is usually the cause for the atlas bone to misalign apparently. Yet I never felt the *injury*.

If you know someone with this debilitating disease/diseases please forward this to them if they haven't already found help.

A buddy of mine came down with a vertigo attack while leading lap two of a Formula Ford race. Wow did that suck!

I've had a few vertigo attacks, they do indeed suck, I hope you resolve your issue! I know there are exercises that you can do to improve your inner ear's ability to equalize itself. I think one of them is sitting on a chair, leaning forward and leaning back a few times.

Can you repost the link? My mom has the disease. Was going to forward it to her after reading it.

Just FYI, there are some really good Osteopathic Physicians that specialize in these types of adjustments.

My Wife has something similar. She goes to a special($$$) 'chiropractic' office just over the border in France every month or so so get her neck adjusted.

Links have been fixed. Sorry about that.

And good luck with any treatment. This can really suck for loved ones.

Thats rough man. On a non-related note, my sister has Vaselvagel and Pots syndrome which causes her to get light headed and pass out at times. It's been really rough on her, being 22 and not able to drive, or hold a steady job due to her condition(s).

A good doctor is a must, hopefully the treatment works for you!

so there's actually a name for this? Fuck when i was in fifth grade i had terrible vertigo. I would be laying on my back in bed trying to sleep and then suddenly it would feel like i was getting tossed around like i was in a small boat in some huge waves. I couldn't walk and it looked like everything was ocscillating. I ended up seeing a chiropractor and i haven't experienced any vertigo for a few years now, but my neck never feels right. THanks for sharing this. I think i'm going to start looking into this again b/c i'm sick of my neck bothering me even after years of seeing a chiropractor. I'd pretty much given up.

What you both have in common is you both really come off like a jerk when you don't agree with someone else's opinions. I'm not happy your in pain but looking for forum sympathy is going to be hard to find considering all the rude things you have posted.

That had to suck for him. If his vertigo was bad enough the race meant nothing.
yeah thanks, been doing similar exercises the specialist showed me.

You don't comprehend well. Those discussions were about working and being able to, not the impaired/disabled and elderly. Then again, I'm totally used to having to spell this shit out for you.
But regardless your true maturity and that of Z31 is showing through because of your spite. And for others to see. That is priceless.
You two go out of your way to make sure you disagree with me than just accepting what I actually said.

This isn't a sympathy thread. My attitude about the way i see the world doesn't change because I'm trying to help other people or that I have this condition. This is about anyone that needs help that has these conditions and might be looking for help. And that there is an answer. My responses will not be changing.

There's a lot of unknowns with the ears because there can be many problems. But if you can find the right specialists and get same treatment started, I wish you well.

I had to look that up. That's another terrible one. Your parents take care of her?
