Na forester is where it's at for mpg and reliability, those euro sav's are junk, the Arcadia is just a dressed up Chevy.

How so? You pay out way more in fuel costs, tire costs and maintenance generally without a serious increase in room. My dad's v70 was an excellent car, super comfy on the highway and quite spacious.
Does she want an SUV simply because she's stuck on the concept of one? 9/10, suv owners don't need em.
My opinion on semi-new cars. If you can't afford a new one, you can't afford to maintain one that's just coming out of it's warranty period. Afford meaning the maintenance costs or the depreciation you'll see when you go to sell. You ready to sell it for next to nothing when it's sitting at 200k and still one of the new models?Comment

My EX and I dealt with a simple VW Passat for 8 years, we had two kids during the time. We got a new Mini van next and I cringed at the fuel mileage loss as well as the mess that came with it.
Kids trash cars plain and simple. I don't allow my GF's kids to bring things into the cars. Their stuff goes into the trunk and gets out when we get where we are headed.Comment

Subaru forester no joke they look and sound fantastic, 2.5l decent mpg, and you can get a really nice one for 12k or so.
