When I was underage and cops would let themselves in whoevers house it was would tell them straight up that they were not given permission to enter and that they needed to leave. Typically the party would shut down afterwards, but it was rare that anyone actually got in trouble.

Cops let themselves in becuase they thought parents werent home. We knew better and got them out but they had seen beer everywhere and stuff. They knocked on the front door till mom and dad woke up.

I don't feel like reading through 7 pages of replies, but in order to issue a ticket, even a small one like this, I believe the police must have probable cause. It's the same if you get pulled over by a an officer while driving; they can't arrest you for DUII unless you fail a roadside sobriety test, i.e. they then have probable cause to site you with a crime.

If you truly weren't tested in any way and didn't have any alcohol on your person, you could probably get the ticket overturned. For the same reason the police can't site you for speeding unless they actually measure your speed, I can't imagine they could site you with an MIP when no alcohol was observed in/on you.

Question: if said party wasn't loud, why were cops called?

It doesn't have to be loud.
Cops get called because of a bunch of cars parked in the street, by one angry neighbor that lives 4 houses down was inconvenienced by having to drive a little bit slower through them. All they have do is mention noise complaint or some stupid, completely retarded thing that forces a squad to go over there.
