No. If you jailbroke correctly you should not see any decrease in performance. All you need is the latest redsn0w and update you iPhone to 5.01 and you should be all set to jailbreak. Redsn0w will guide you through the steps. It's really simple. Also, you don't need to preserve the baseband unless you need to unlock the phone. -
For you guys who are jailbroken, did it slow your phone down at all?Leave a comment:

that's why I always got that error :hitler:Just did the redsn0w on iTouch running 5.0.1, but too lazy to upg the i4.
Get rs 0.9.10b3
Versions 10b1 and 2 had problems.
One thing noone EVER tells you is that you have to run redsn0w.exe in administrator mode. Ie. on WinXP right click the exe, "Run as..." In Other user choose administrator.
Otherwise you'll get an error during the jb.
Unless you're always in administrator win mode.Leave a comment:

I see that an untethered jailbreak was released a few days ago.
Do you need to preserve your baseband?
I have a mac so I can create a custom IPSW with pwnagetool.
redsn0w injects the jailbreak onto your current firmware so it won't preserve your based band but last time I jailbroke some devices I used tiny umbrella to preserve the baseband and then used redsn0w to install cydia.Leave a comment:
