it had a rather limited selection, no uzel or novacat but did have madcats (of course), daishi, supernovas and the expansion pack added in, among others, elementals and atlases

4 had a huge selection comparably

in 3 you also aimed with your mouse and had to steer around with the keyboard. I don't quite remember how 4 worked (it had been a long time) but IIRC it was pretty much all piloting with a keyboard

Damn thats crazy hard. I used a logitech joy stick that made playing it awesome. U should try and get your hands on Mercs 4 it was the best imo. Ive never been a gamer but that series was by far my favorite game on pc or a console.

the controls can be a little clunky when trying to play without enough light to see the keyboard but I really like how 3 works...makes it really easy to target legs or arms and you can pick your opponents apart bit by bit :D

never used a joystick though, I suppose a nice one with those extra buttons could be useful for mech4 but the mouse aiming is so nice and simple in 3...probably a little too easy
