busted my knuckle, need advice

ok so another drunk/stupid/lots of drugs enduced injury.
how i hurt my hand i dont know. it is my left hand, i dont usually punch with that one, so dont THINK i hit a person, but why the F would i hit a wall hard enough to damage it this bad? anyway how it happened not important.

i split just bellow my knuckle, in the meaty area. i've had it bandaged since new years, oitment on it everyday, cleaning it all the time

the sking on top is turning white, pretty sure its dead. someone said i need to cut that dead skin off so it can heal... is this true? or should i leave the layer of dead skin on to protect it?

its not a thin layer of skin like a blister, no no no, its a pretty large piece of devon's knuckle that is semi-still connected

It'll fall off. No need to cut it off. Just keep it clean. Pics would help. I'd be more worried about tendon or ligament damage. Do you still have full range of motion?

So it's just skin and flesh scraped up? Just keep it clean and covered. Don't scrape anything off. It will fall off on its own.

just scraped it out, made a nice cave into my finger!
rinsed with peroxide, and plastered with neosporen. good to go!

If it starts to smell, go to the hospital.

If you keep putting petroleum products on it you will just prolong the healing process.

really? i thought they help heal, whatever...

and dude, I WISH i knew what happened. i've tried SOOOO hard to remember but i went from running in circles and hugging fatties to covered in blood being escorted by my friend. he said i walked up to him and i was already bloody/injured, but smiling.

I've been turning wrenches for 10 years now, never used any ointment and always healed up within a few days. Just clean the wound really well (scrub), and then seal it up with superglue. You will forget all about it and before you know it, it will be healed.

Then again I have a TON of scars, each one has a story. :)

EDIT: I am in no way a doctor, and take my advise at your own risk. If you get some flesh eating bacteria, don't blame me. ;)

You can't glue that; it's a scrape.

Keep using the neosporin. It'll fight infection... which your hands are prone to. Petroleum jelly is the #1 dermatologist recommended moisturizer also.

The point of the glue is to seal the wound. You can glue anything.
