I paid $3.08 for premium yesteday. meh.. I guess I don't really care. I was expecting gas prices to go up a long time ago so maybe I was better phsycologically prepared than others. I'll be amazed if it doesn't hit $4/gallon next year. and gas is still cheap in america compared to other places so we really have no reason to bitch..
yeah, that's sort of the point, its called inflation
I drove by a station that was $3.49 today... ended up getting premium for $3.09/gallon. Not bad considering I've put a grand total of $10 in my car since I started school 6 weeks ago and had a 1/4 tank at the time.
Wow, I can remember when my rents first picked up my Pathfinder in 1993. Only cost 16 bucks to fill the tank at 87 cents per gallon!
Yeah, in the 6 weeks Ive been at school Ive driven a total of ten miles, only to get beer. So I guess I really dont care about gas till December when Whiteface opens and Ill be making the 200 mile round trip twice a week.
Price gouging sucks but you have to deal with it. We all need the gas and will pay whatever price it is. Think about it, the majority of America still needs to drive to work. I know my pops just has to grab his ankles every morning when he fill up to make the 120 mile round trip to work in his 4runner. The shitty part is theres nothing he can do about it. You can try and cut back how much you drive, but face it, our country runs on fossil fuels, and the gas companies can charge whatever the fuck they want cause they know theyll get it. Simple economics really, we just get the shaft.

you fail to realize that public transportation is a LOT better in european countries. in my town there is NO public transportation. except cabs which would be way more expensive than driving.
wouldnt be so bad to live in a big city with subways or public busses though...
i do agree with you however, i've been expecting this for a while and don't really care that much. yeah it sucks, but i guess we're just catching up with the rest of the world.

Ditto.
"See, we're adding a little something to this month's sales contest. As you all know, first prize is a Cadillac Eldorado. Anyone wanna see second prize? Second prize is a set of steak knives. Third prize is you're fired."
yup, if prices were too high, people would start walking. As lazy as most Americans are (unless there's a hurricane and there's a evac-FUBAR), I dont think that will happen until at least $4/gallon.
Arguments could be made for BMW gouging asking what they ask for their luxury barges, but the fact is people will pay it.
It isn't gouging, part of the issue is America is at 100% refining capacity and we haven't been allowed to build a new refinery in like 15 years. Add to that the fact that several decent sized gulf coast refineries are at cut rates and you have a small fuel shortage. Then you get all the people that thought gas was going to hit $5/gallon and they filled up everything that would hold gas and it drains our reserves. Fuel shouldn't be as expensive, but right now it is still hard for the refineries to keep up with demand.

True..... and look at the cars they drive in Europe and the far east. Small, compact 3,4, and 6 cylinder cars. We, here in the good 'ol U.S.A., have soccer moms driving 8 and 10 cylinder suv's and pickups to get their children to school. I've seen families here in Iowa that drive around in F350 crew cabs with beanie babies in the rear window. Now you know that daddy ain't driving that thing. No, that's mommas ride. Talk about a nation of excess!

Same here. The midwest will have to resort back to horse and carriage when the gov't starts rationing fuel.
its great, there's tons of SUVs/Trucks now here in charlotte with For Sale signs that weren't there a month ago. Perhaps people will start to realize they dont need that shit?
Good, I'm 110% in favor of a resurgence in small cars, because that will lead to economical sporty cars...

Nothing is worse than SUV profits. I remember in the mid-90's Ford was making $15k per Explorer, and that was when they were selling for many thousands less than today. Hilarious.
