who knows anything about 2 stroke dirtbikes

99 kawasaki kx80. 40:1 mix using 93 and kawasaki race oil. started up fine, loaded it on my truck, 15 minutes later got to a buddies house and now it won't start. the fuck gives? only engine upgrade is a FMF shorty2. I don't know anything about carbureted motors. I want to pull off the carb and check it all but no idea what i'd be doing. any tips?

I do try to start it while giving gas, seems the only way it ever starts (when it wants to)

    Tried:
-Slow kicking a few times then kicking hard
-taking plug out kicking it 20 times putting brand new plug in
-compression starting (took it down a huge hill and popped it into 1st and nothing.

Before and after pics of dirtbike after a friend and I slaved cleaning it.

Sounds like a jetting issue. Check out this link to get started http://www.bikebandit.com/community/...les-carburetor. I would start there. Its also possible the jets may just need a good cleaning.

shouldn't of cleaned it. dirtbikes don't like being clean.

I stand by dirtbike means dirty bike. I had to change the back tire since it was getting bald, so replaced both tires and put heavy duty tubes in (some how the brand new rear tube is popped..don't feel like redoing that shit again.) I was missing a few bolts for the plastics (zip ties holding it on) so I took them off and replaced the bolts and in the process decided to clean it all. While I did the swing arm and everything else, my buddy cleaned the plastics as I pulled them off. Was getting pretty tired of getting covered in dirt every time I wanted to move the bike.

This is what I got in the process of changing the tire. Back story: Had wheel clamped on its side in the vise on the mill machine. Pushing down on it and it popped out and slammed me in the face. This bump was 5 times the size 5 minutes after the pic.

Sounds like it was flooded. Open the throttle all the way and kick it a couple of times to clear it out.

Check you fuel lines also. Make sure the valve is open and if you have an in line filter, make sure it isnt clogged.

Make sure youre getting spark before anything. It might be that your coil/igniter took a dump. And lastly, if you have a kill switch, make sure it isnt grounding out on the bar or frame. Those cheap stock kill switches are infamous for gronding out.

I bet its the coil I'm sure you'd notice the carb progressively getting shitty and if it was the carb it wouldn't just start outta no where.
