How to deal with getting less sleep?

My advice:
Replace 2 of those cups of coffee with fruit smoothies or premade drinks (Naked Juices, etc) Caffeine works great until you crash. Much more efficient energy comes from B6 / B12 vitamins. Or get a package of Emergen-C and put a packet into some flavored water bottle. (I think just plain water with those tastes pretty shitty.)
If you're not already taking a multi-vitamin I'd say get on that. If the average American took in what their body really needs, not complete shit they'd be healthier of course but feel better too. If you can fit in some exercise by getting up an hour earlier that will help you too.
I'm by absolutely no means a fitness nut either, it's just a simple fact, the human body needs fuel. If you're burning 87 octane when your body requires race gas, well you're not gonna be firing on all cylinders or after awhile your body will just make do with what you're giving it and not perform at it's best.Comment

Part of my problem is I'm just lazy. Weekends don't see me up until around 11, at which point I lay in bed until probably 1, then fix myself a shit ton of eggs and toast and watch TV, usually while cleaning and doing laundry to prepare for the week to come.
Fruit has never really been a big part of my diet. Usually lots of OJ with calcium though (can't eat/drink dairy). Vitamins I never can get into the routine of taking, shit, I barely remember to grab my poptarts for breakfast on the way out the door.
I'm a pretty terrible person when it come to changing routine.1974.5 Jensen Healey : 2003 330i/5Comment

Get a girlfriend to do all that for you. You will find you have a ton of free time when you don't have to make any food, clean anything, or do any laundry.:up:Zinno '89 <24v swap in progress>

I forgot to mention exercise. I often run late at night, and at first it seems like an odd time, but taking a shower and relaxing for 30 minutes before bed is really nice sometimes.'84 318i M10B18 147- Safari Beige

A typical sleep cycle is, what, like 90 minutes? And it's best to wake up at the end of that cycle. So, plan your alarm according to when you go to sleep and approximately when you need to wake up and count off 90 minute intervals. You may wake up earlier than you need to but it will be much better than waking up in the middle of stage 3 or 4 sleep.

^ = no sleep+ weight loss+ 100 new e30 projects
i'm up at 4 am every day and don't go to bed till 10 or 11. you get used to it. actually the human body naturally craves sleep twice a day but 10 hrs all at once isn't the way to go. to much sleep actually makes it worse. once you grow up ( don't take offence ) you only really need 6 to 7 hrs. life isn't easy, you want a good paying job and go to school, my hats off to you, but success comes at a price. stay with it. 4 years of sleep depravation will be well worth the rewards you will recieve by sucking it up now.Last edited by long tall eta; 01-19-2012, 08:05 AM.sigpicComment
