    What would cause my USB ports to stop functioning?

    ? they havent been working for a while actually.

    hooking up an smt6 to it if the smt isnt working properly

      smt6 uses serial ports.

        Check and make sure the plugs going into your motherboard did not come unplugged.

            Check device manager. Are they recognized? Is there a yellow triangle with an (!) ? Do they have a conflict? If no issue there right click properties. does it claim they are working properly? If so uninstall reinstall chipset drivers (after getting the latest from your mobo's manufacturer).........

              checked device manager, arnt showing up, so i assume that they are unplugged somewhere, but they are a part of the motherboard? its not like theres a plug extending out of the ports

                If they are a part of the mobo and not showing up they are either disabled in the bios or are dead. What mobo is it? Either delete ot f10 gets you in most bios's but ymmv.
