An armed robber was killed by a customer at an Upstate Waffle House early Saturday, according to Spartanburg County deputies.

SPARTANBURG COUNTY, SC(WIS) - An armed robber was killed by a customer at an Upstate Waffle House early Saturday, according to Spartanburg County deputies.

The shooting happened at the Waffle House on Chesnee Highway just after 1:00 a.m.
According to an incident report, two armed men entered the restaurant and tried to rob it. A customer in the Waffle House, who is a concealed weapon permit holder, was also armed with a handgun and attempted to hold the suspects at gunpoint until law enforcement could arrive, deputies said.
Deputies said one of the robbery suspects pointed his gun at the customer, and the customer then shot the man, who died on the scene.
"The gentlemen said it scared him. He thought he was gonna die, so he shot the armed robbery suspect," said Spartanburg County Sheriff Chuck Wright.
The suspect has been identified by the Spartanburg County coroner as 19-year-old Dante Lamont Williams. of Roebuck, SC.
According to officials, the other suspect is still on the loose. Officials said no one else was hurt.
The Spartanburg County Violent Crimes Unit is investigating.
Wright said he made the decision not to release the name of the customer who shot and killed the suspect. Wright said he wants to protect the customer and his family from possible retaliation by the second robber who has not been identified and is still at large.
Wright said the unknown robber is to be considered armed and dangerous since he was involved in an attempted armed robbery where a handgun was used. Wright said customers could only describe the second suspect as a black man wearing a mask.
I have zero sympathy for scum that commit these crimes and cannot feel sorry for him. You, however, are welcome to your own opinion.

While I do not give the shit about the dead guy serves him right. I am still fustrated that even though this shit happens people will still commit crimes.

      Great!

It's amazing how many stories there are like this, store owners, home owners, etc protecting themselves and others...but they hardly ever get any real news coverage.

You have to admit it's not very common news on your standard local nightly news. One reason I love this state (although I REALLY do apologize for voting for Newt, I didn't but my state did). The sheriffs around here will not fault you at all for taking such action and defending your life or property.

I don't feel sorry for the thief; in fact I think thieves are the worst kind of scum.

I do, however believe that the 'hero' of this story put everyone in more danger then it was worth to protect someone else's property. If he hadn't drawn, I'm sure neither of the thieves would have had any interest in using their weapons. That's not to say that if I was carrying and was in the same situation I wouldn't do the same, I just don't think it was worth drawing on some retard who is holding up a chinese restaurant and is liable to do anything to the employees, other customers, police, etc. if he was freaked out.

I agree for the most part, but how can you know what these scum are going to do? I do not want to risk my life in hoping they won't pull the trigger.

Such a shit storm only made worse by easy access to firearms. I love guns, don't get me wrong! Had restrictions been much tighter would the thief been armed and would the shooter need to draw his weapon and kill someone over an attempted robbery? Seems like a lot of attempts to justify arming everyone IMO.

I should add, good for him for shooting the guy. I would have double-tap'd that fucker as well if I were in his shoes.

Restrictions on firearms purchase/any form of gun control in general, just make it harder and more frustrating for law abiding citizens to prurchse guns.

almost all criminals don't use guns bought legally, so making it harder to buy guns legally dosent fix the problem.

I personally would rather every law abiding citizen who is mentally capable of operating/handling a firearm safely to be armed. Armed societies are polite societies. Crimnals are less likely to commit a crime because they will know that the person they be robbing could be armed.

Criminals prey on people who cannot defend themsleves, because they are more likely to succeed with the crime.

And before anyone says if no one was allowed to be armed there would be no crime that is bullshit. Utopian societies where everyone follows the law and is nice to everyone don't exist and never will.
