    Noise reduction project

I know r3v hates surveys, but I'm working on a project for a class at Purdue regarding noise in small cars and coming up with a way to solve the problems. It's not a very long survey, and should only take a few seconds. Thanks!

also... you realize the best way to kill exhaust sound is to add a turbocharger, right?

and V & H can all be mitigated with softer bushings. we usually go with harder, if not solid, bushings. not the other way around.

the prius forum could probably help though.

Compared to real cars modern cars are already like driving around in a sound booth, with as much insulation they got now, and people still think there too loud? fucking waffleswaffleswaffleswaffleswaffless.

I took the quiz with my 85 Jetta in mind. Pretty much the loudest thing you can drive as far as road noise/squeaks/rattles/wind noise is concerned. And then I have sport suspension and a loud exhaust, so...

Small car, for the purpose of the project, is anything smaller than an Accord. Which I think is pretty midsize, but what the hell.

And about the turbo comment. That's the route I took. No regrets there. The other people in my group drive an Aveo and an Escape 4 cylinder, both automatics. 'nuff said.

Also, Kershaw started doing this already, but if anyone has any tips they would like to share that would be an aftermarket-installed method of reducing any kind of NVH, feel free to post it. I'll even give you a giant cookie.

Jesus fuck your neighbours must hate you. I personally can't stand the sound of a rotary engine.

That makes two of us. Although 3 and 4 rotor engines arent nearly as bad, and they do spit a lot of flames....
