We have 3 dogs, none of which we chose or adopted while puppies.

I love both, but I will always be a cat person. Love their independence and personalities. My cat is a splitting image of a dog. I also have a blue nose pit bull who is my newest addition to the family. Love this dog to death!

All you cat lovers must have combined every possible bad characteristic a dog could possible have and stored that in your brain as the default dog. My black lab doesn't lick me unless I want her to, doesn't poop on the carpet (or even in our lawn for that matter), doesn't smell bad, doesn't jump up on us, doesn't bark at everything, doesn't chew up any of our belongings, is insanely friendly, and we've only had to give her two baths her whole life. She's also an excellent hunting dog and just a load of fun to be around.

The simple fact is that if you want a pet that requires next to no effort then you should get a cat. Or maybe a fish. If you want a pet you can take with you hiking, camping, fishing, hunting, and tubing, that can actually be useful to you, that will give you endless affection, that will give you endless amusement, and that will be endlessly loyal then get a dog and put in a little work training it for a year or two. And make sure to get the right breed for you. Don't be the inactive idiot who gets a husky and then complains about how hyper it is.

dogs are hyper and smelly you have to give them baths, 3year old brain it's entire life. Cats are chill, bathe themselves, and plot to kill you! Also having a cat you don't need to take it for walks and fucking pet it all the damn time or beg for fucking food, fucking dogs.
