Cats. I grew up with them and I do like dogs. However, I have a tendency to leave for days on end sporadically to go on short road trips so a dog wouldn't be ideal. Lived with my gf for a few years with two boxers and I can't tell you the amount of rage I would get everytime I stepped in a puddle of slobber with clean socks.

Everyone saying dogs are dumb, show me wild cats that have learned how to take trains to get from destination to destination, or a seeing eye cat. Cats are "neat" but a smart, loving German Shepard or similar is unequaled.

@der affe, I love my rottie! they are such amazing loyal dogs. This is the family dog, he is a German pure that is 14 years old. He is too tired and old to be moving about =( In their older age(owned two now) the hips give out and they have trouble moving about. He still thinks he is two though! In his prime he was 197lbs!

Bernhald is the from the first US litter of import parents (German and Belgian) with perfect OFAs and V rated hips. i wanted an import for the better temperment, larger size and i wanted black and mahogany markings. i was not really wanting an undocked tail though. i got lucky and found a VERY responsable breeder here with a pair of imported, papered dogs and their first litter.

i had to go through a 1/2 phone interview before i could get directions to her house. after meeting the pups, i had to do an hour personal interview (to make sure i was not going to fight the dog, had a yard and a house, knew the responsabilities of owning a rotti, ETC) before she would let me pick one. i also had to sign a contract stating that if i was ever to need to give up the dog, i had to contact her first to buy it back.

he is 7 now, getting a little bit lazy and showing a little gray on his chin.
