i need your honest opinion (photo critique)

I'm entering this image in a photo contest...

I need to know what emotion this image gives you or what you think of it.



after a couple of days, i'll give my thoughts on what i attempted to capture. please keep this thread out of the shitter as this is real important to me, and try to keep in account everything going on in the scene.

edit: the final production of this image won't have the border/watermark, it's just there because my resizing action in pshop adds it automatically

i think it looks pretty good but you may want to clear up the letters a little more on the sides of the cup. it might be the crappy monitor my brother has though

Excellent work - I'd say it's a heavy talk for a sidewalk coffee house, but to be honest, some of my most sincere or involved conversations have happened in similar places. Sometimes it's easier to think about the big stuff with lots of other people around to distract you.

I like it. I'd be interested in seeing it with the dark colors in the background (everything behind the girl looking into the camera) lightened. Especially the black parts behind the girl's left shoulder. That and maybe the same background area made to look even more out of focus.

i prefer the first one with the green lettering. but it is kinda hard to read it. overall it looks good.

The photo works well. I like Alex's version better because the lighting seems more dynamic, but I like the green text at the top as well. What I don't like is how to stacked 2 cups of coffee to get the one in the photo high enough to be level with the girl. You should have only used one cup on the table, and changed your point of view. When do you even stack coffee cups on top of eachother?
