Newest addition to my german family

So I've been looking for something to drive when I get back stateside and start college thats going to be dependable. My choices were something old that I can easily repair and build if it breaks or a mid 90's model Honda... something that just don't break. So..... I came across a DEAL and a half. 1969 VW beetle. Mmmmmhmmm..... 1000 bux for this baby. The pics are of it disassembled for paint (another 1500 euro) which will be Azure blue (a ford color) with a grey stripe... not sure the exact color I'll have the stripe painted.... but its going to be grey. Not sure on wheels yet and not sure about the motor. From what I can tell the guy who turned it in for junk... yes JUNK! turned it in because he couldn't get the thing to run. After 15 minutes of fooling with the fuel pump, my friend noticed a diaphragm was upside down and viola! It runs ;) So he bought it.... but he came down on Department of the Army orders to go back stateside and he's taking his 77 mustang with him... his loss is my gain. I'll be slowing my e30 building... in part to rebuild this and get it street worthy by next summer and because my wife pissed me off by wrecking my e30..... so now its just parts collecting for the e30 til I get stateside and can buy one to rip apart and rebuild.

If any of you guys know anything about these bugs let me know.... cause I'm mostly clueless.... I don't even know motor sizes of these things??? *LOL* Enjoy:

    4wheel porsche disc brakes!

    the beauty of air cooled....

    nothing to see here.... ugh

It'll be fun to have something old. Last old car was a 78 monte carlo with a 350 olds rocket from a 72 cuttie in it. Loved that car.... but cops loved it more and they decided they wanted it more than me. Maybe this time it'll be different :D

Mmmmmm......... bus..... I love busses.... but bugs are close behind. Just stumbled accross this one and couldn't pass it up. Priced all the parts to finish the job that I could think of.... all rubber, valves, engine gasket set, mirrors yada yada yada..... 20+ parts total only priced out at 197 bux. Gotta love it.

looks like a real POS! just dont forget, no matter what you do to a bug, its still a bug! the heaters only work in the summer-and never turn off, and it doesnt mstter what engine you put in em, they still have an ugly horid interior. if you need some parts, there were a few of them in the yard here. good luck-- looks like a project that noone wanted to finish.

Actually its in much worse shape now than when it was bought from the strip lot here on post. It was one color and was all together. It drove to that shop. Hell.... its in Hassfurt right now. YOu say there are bugs in the strip lot there? I'll be down today. How late are they open?

I've wanted an old bug since as far back as I could remember. Its just something that you can build for relatively cheap. I'll have an e30 also mind you..... but this will be something to drive daily. I've found out that the engine thats in this one is out of a 71-73 super beetle. 1600cc with 2bbl carb so someone had done some shit to this car. Its something to pass the time and keep me from spending stupid money on my e30 that I'm not going to take with me.

The e30 had a gentle accident. She pulled too far up to a curb and smashed the iS valance I had searched and searched and searched for. Needless to say I was PISSED. But the iS lip is still good. This weekend I'm starting to gather suspension parts so that I'll have a whole front subframe for when I get back there.

That NIN sticker is on the worlds LARGEST rearview mirror. It goes from one side of the car to the other. NOOOOOO blind spot at all in that thing.

Today I got some parts for it to include h4 headlight conversion kits and the remainder of my missing interior parts. All that I"m missing now is a passenger mirror. Who needs that anyway? :D

I'll find out next week what size the motor is for sure when I yank it to rebuild it. Yay yay yay

Oh yeah mike.... WTF???? You don't even say hi! Dammit... I was at BK around 6ish and saw yer PIMP ass ride there. Can't miss that Alpina spoiler *DROOL* I didn't know who you were until you got in it...... Guess I'll have to rub shoulders when I come down to get more vw parts.
