    car lifts

What do you guys think about madjax lifts?

What about 4 post lifts vs 2 post lifts?
I'm leaning towards a 2 post lift mainly because of more versatility, smaller and more simple, and lower cost comparing equal quality 2 vs 4 post lifts. This will be for a home garage. The madjax looks like the best option for this purpose from what i've found.

I've got a Forward 2 post 7k pound lift, love it!
with the MadJax I like how they designed it to be portable, but I, myself wouldn't feel too safe under that. It also doesn't give you enough room to walk around underneath the car.
Yet you stated its for a home garage, and mine is in a shop/ garage. But I guess in your situation it would be your best bet.

i do see a couple downsides to it.

      1. EThirty318i states not high enough to walk around under the car

      2. I dont like how the hoses are kinda everywhere, makes it easy for someone to get hurt, including you.

      3. If you mess up on drilling the holes it could be very unstable.

I dont think i would get ir just because i wouldnt feel very safe. But check out reveiws on it and see what you come across.
      Fuck you buddy

My main concern would be the quality of the concrete flooring you are relying on. Most likely you would want a specific or specialized pour for a lift, not just your average garage floor.

Wheelgap is like a vagina. The more fingers you get in, the worse it is.

I like the slogan. "lift without limits". Yeah... it has its limits.

To those saying it's not safe.. why?
What 2 post lift would you consider more safe than this?
I've read that the ones with cross beams at the top or bottom are not safer and that they are just to route the wires to the other post and are not structural.
And this one is rated for more than double what the e30 weighs. 6k lbs

I have the 4 post danmar lift and bought it over the two post because i dont need to secure it to my garage floor. In fact it comes with rollers u can use to reposition the lift.

The lift is the single best tool i have ever bought. Simple things like tightening a drive belt are so much easier standing underneath my car versus bending my wrist three different ways reaching down from above.

Just got done putting in a 9k lb floor plate lift in the barn. Got it for $1200 on sale. Quality is surprisingly good for being Chinese. I'm 5'8" and it's perfect height for me to comfortably work under cars.

Floor had to be cut up and footers (4'x4'x8") had to be put in. We used 4k lb concrete instead of the 3k lb it called for.

Simple simple to install. My life is an easy on now. Already making $$ on the side with this thing, and actually, loving it.

I don't find the MadJax to safe enough for me. I'm not saying that its not safe, I just prefer a lift that is secured to the floor. The MadJax wont allow you to stand fully under your car, so you'll be squatting the entire time pretty much. I don't know where you saw that 2 post lifts with the top brace aren't safer... It helps brace the 2 posts and yes mine has one and the wires are routed on the brace to the other post. Another downfall to the MadJax is the hoses. They are just going to be in your way the entire time. This is just my .02, spend the extra $$$ and get a well known/ reliable brand name lift.

The maxjax is anchored to the floor. Watch them assemble it for the X5, he drills holes for floor anchors.

If you use 4" thick 4000 psi floor (standard concrete from a truck) and their floor anchors, you have a 300% safety margin with the maxjax.

The maxjax is best for ceiling limitations. If you have the height, I would go for a full height lift from Rotary.

b*saint. I saw how it was anchored to the floor, it might just be me but I myself don't trust it. As for your comment about a Rotary lift, I fully support that statement.

So what lift would you guys suggest for a home garage? Safety is #1 but if I can't use it for everything you need to jack the car up for then it's not really worth it to me. The thing with a 4 post is that you can't use it for everything. Nothing involving taking the wheels off, subframe, diff, engine, exhaust stuff would be harder... it just doesn't seem that useful and worth getting a lift if it's gonna be a 4 post.

every lift has its plus points as well as minus. At work we have 3 2 posts out of the ground lifts. they are great for everything except when it comes time to pull a sub frame or a fuel filter- under body cladding. that is when we use the regular 2 post- which sucks if you need to get into the car or are doing any work outside of the car.
we also have drive on lifts which are great for seeing suspensions in compressed form.

I lift cars on the lift to do things as simple as removing door panels- a 2 post reg. lift will not work.
