XD's are great, I am not really a fan of the 40 in general, but so long as it fits you well and it points naturally and well for you go for it. The XD line is nice, good shooters, durable, accurate. I'm not a 40 fan in anything other than a full size with some weight but, its a decent round.Comment

That was not due to power it was due to the cartridge. 38 you are about limited to a 6 shot weapon where as the 40 you can find guns holding 15.
The 9mm was the replacement but people complained about the power of the 9mm. So the 40 was the bastard child offering about the same round count as the 9mm and a bit stronger.
40 has stuck around and it picked up, making it more mainstream. Now its about as popular as the 9mm and the 45.Build your own dreams, or someone else will hire you to build theirs!
