I think the best way is to trick the buyer into thinking the tach is out of calibration.

Probably lowering the price should help man. Not knocking your asking price but unless you list somewhere where people care about old BMW's (not Kansas) its going to take a while. Plus as you and everyone knows you will only pay what you think the car is worth, would you pay your asking price? This is something a lot of people overlook when selling.
