depends, i went to place that had really nice soft horse hairish ones, ive also seen plasticy scratchyness. -
It varies, but you always want to look at them before you use them.
I've found chunks of rust and rocks in the soft ones. Can't be any worse than chunks of rust or rocks in a sponge.Comment

on a 24 y/o paint job. Who the F**k cares. The answer real answer is no, they are not safe. As a detailer, they are the anti-christ.2014 Alpine White 335i MSport

Considering it's self serve and used by many, some who probably wash infrequently, I wouldn't touch a brush with a ten foot pole. Unlike a sheepskin or MF mit, contaminants will get lodged in the bristles of a brush which will result in swirls more often than not.
Safest to use a sheepskin with the two bucket method.Comment

Cheaper than anyone else. Wash would be ONR two buckets, natural sheepskin and P21S drying cloth, natural chamois, and/or a microfiber drying towel. Either Optimum Poli-Seal or Dodo Juice Purple Haze wax...I'd do $40/$45 total respectively. The first car I ever rode in was an e30
