If I was going to spend that kind of money on an e30 it'd be on an original low milage car in excellent condition rather than rebuilt this and resprayed that.

Yes I was. Here are my thoughts:
The paint is meh at best. metallic flake is oddly large and it looks kinda cheap. it also has many various dents around the car (none too deep, but there's a fairly large one on the driver's door).

There's something really freaking weird about the shifter. It's REALLY sloppy, can't really tell what gear you're in, he says it's the shift boot (he took it off and it made no difference). He says the bushings have been replaced.

It looks like the bcaps were painted on the car. Who the fuck does that?

Interior is newly reupholstered, but the bolsters feel like they're some really weird material that's super soft but looks like it'll be ripped in a thousand miles.

Dash has minor cracks, not too bad.

It leaks something a LOT, I think it was PS fluid because he reused a hose or something, he said it's a two dollar part that'll take him 2 minutes to fix but for some reason he hasn't done it.

On to the good stuff:
It pulls super strong, engine feels great. Tranny seems perfect too. No weird noises, doesn't pull to either side at all. Clutch feels good. He has hella lights (I think), albeit ebay-looking fogs. The car seems like a good car overall, seems very solid/strong.


And at the time that I saw it, he had rejected an offer of 6800.

If it's the same car, which it sounds like it is, don't offer anything. Bad repaint = bail.
